Your New Job Jönköping Municipality is now strengthening its school library operations by hiring school librarians with the mission to develop libraries both at their own school and at schools within their cluster. We are now seeking school librarians for Torpa School F-6, Ekhags School F-6, Månsarp-Tahes School F-6, and Ljungarum School 7-9. A well-functioning school library is an important part of the school's mission to support students' reading development, information literacy, and ability to participate in a democratic society. As a school librarian, you will work pedagogically, collaboratively, and strategically in line with the Education Administration's goals of equity and quality. You will carry out your assignment in close collaboration with the schools' teacher-librarians. You will work according to a centrally developed assignment description and will develop together with the principal a school and cluster-specific assignment. In your role, you will work to identify development areas, implement and follow up on development initiatives to increase quality and equity. The assignment also involves developing a local library plan, collaborating with teachers to integrate the library's resources into instruction, strengthen students' love of reading and reading ability through reading promotion initiatives, and promote students' media and information literacy. During the first year, you will work only at the school in your cluster where you will have the majority of your position, and then gradually take on the assignment to improve quality and equity in the school libraries within the cluster. Your Qualifications We are looking for you who are trained as a librarian and have a degree in library and information science (minimum 120 credits). You are passionate about working with children and young people and stimulating their language development, love of reading, and interest in literature. It is an advantage if you have experience working in a school library or other school activities. Good to Know The position is a permanent employment with vacation relief within the Education Administration of Jönköping Municipality. The principal at the school where you have the majority of your position will be your supervisor; in your work, you will also need to collaborate with principals at other schools in your cluster. All school and teacher-librarians are part of a network with regular collegial meetings. In this position, you are expected to be able to move between schools; a B driver's license is therefore a requirement.
