School Librarian at Lindholmen Gymnasium Library

Description Lindholmen Gymnasium Library is a shared school library serving the Lindholmen gymnasium schools area and is located in the middle of the school campus along the river. We serve as the school library for Bräcke Gymnasium, Center for Language Introduction, Ester Mosessons Gymnasium, Lindholmen Technical Gymnasium, Polhems Gymnasium, AG Stora Holm, and Gothenburg Region Technical Gymnasium. Since one of our librarians is on parental leave, we are seeking a substitute. You will become part of a competent and engaged work team consisting of eight librarians and two social pedagogues. You will primarily work with students and staff at Lindholmen Technical Gymnasium. We work according to Gothenburg City's library plan 2024-2028 with the goal that the school library shall have a clear pedagogical function whose primary task is to promote students' reading and media and information literacy through collaboration with teachers and other staff. The focus of the school library's activities is students' increased goal achievement, well-being, and identity development. Job Responsibilities You will work to strengthen students' reading engagement and reading ability through language-developing methods and activities. In collaboration with school personnel and colleagues at the library, you will actively participate in the school library's mission to strengthen students' media and information literacy. You will plan and conduct instruction and mentor students both in the library and in the classroom. Job responsibilities include media planning and procurement, circulation and book management, as well as other tasks common to a larger library. Daily work in the library according to schedule is part of the position. As a librarian within the Education Administration, you will be part of the administration's school librarian network. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science. You have high digital competence relevant to the job responsibilities and a strong interest in young adult literature. To succeed in this role, you need to have great commitment to young people and their learning, interests, and digital worlds. The role involves many points of contact, which means you need to have a very good ability to work together with others and create good relationships with both students and colleagues. You take initiative and responsibility for moving work forward whether you work alone or with others. It is important that you feel comfortable speaking in front of both students and staff.
