Do you want to use literature, culture and relationships to inspire a love of reading and give young people new opportunities to succeed in school? Do you also thrive in a varied teaching role where you get to teach, support students and be an important part of the school's pedagogical work?
Highlights of the job:
Close contact with young people
Being part of developing the school's reading promotion work
Wonderful colleagues and a central role at the school
Your tasks
This is a combination position where the school librarian role is 50% and the other 50% is as a teaching teacher.
As a school librarian, you work on developing the school's reading promotion efforts and play an important role in supporting students in their knowledge development. We are looking for someone who is creative and innovative in the school librarian role and has an interest in young people, their living environments and the culture they participate in. An important part of the assignment is to work on reading promotion with students who don't naturally gravitate towards books, libraries or reading. You work to create and maintain an inclusive and inspiring library environment and collaborate with school staff to integrate the school library into the school's learning environment. You work together with teaching teachers in all subjects to plan and implement progressive information retrieval and media literacy education. Together with the school's resource team, you work to ensure that students in need of special support have the right conditions to benefit from the teaching. School librarian duties also include cataloguing, weeding and ordering the school's physical and digital learning materials.
The other half of the position consists of teaching and pedagogical support in the school's activities. Depending on the school's needs, you can teach as a regular teacher, work as a substitute teacher or support students in the role of educational assistant. It is a varied role where you meet different student groups, collaborate closely with colleagues and contribute to a safe and developmental learning environment. Together with the school's other staff, you work to create the best conditions for students' learning and development.
The position also includes coordinating and holding extra examination sessions that take place approximately once a month.
Your profile
Since this is a combination position, we would like you to have experience in both library work and teaching.
We are looking for someone with genuine commitment to young people, especially young people with limited reading experience and low motivation for schoolwork. You have the ability to build relationships, spark curiosity and create pathways into reading and culture even for students who are far from literature.
Since daily work involves collecting and structuring different media, you need to have good ability to plan, prioritize and organize work. You also need to find it easy to build and maintain good relationships with both colleagues and students.
We are looking for someone with teaching experience at upper secondary level, where it is a merit if you have teaching certification.
As a school librarian, you have a bachelor's degree (180 higher education credits) of which 90 credits are in the main subject of library and information science or in relevant fields. You have very good Swedish in speech and writing.
We place great emphasis on your personal profile in this recruitment process. If the position sounds appealing - do not hesitate to submit an application.
