JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We are now seeking you—someone with great commitment to promote children's and young people's reading and learning and become part of Östra Göinge Municipality's ongoing school transformation, with the goal of students in grade 9 achieving a merit score of 230 by 2030. The role involves expanding school library operations with special responsibility for developing and deepening work with middle and upper secondary students. You will work closely with school leadership and educators to strengthen the school library's role as a pedagogical resource and as an active part of instruction. The assignment includes promoting reading and language development and contributing to students' development of media and information literacy (MIL), for example through teaching source criticism, information searching, and digital competence in collaboration with teachers. The school library is an important resource in students' knowledge development, and you will participate in planning, implementing, and following up on instruction-related initiatives. The role also includes responsibility for and development of work with Creative School. You coordinate cultural initiatives in collaboration with schools and external cultural actors and participate in projects that strengthen students' language development, creativity, and aesthetic learning processes. Through this, you contribute to culture being integrated into the school's educational mission. As a school librarian, you work based on the municipality's school library plan and are an active part of the school's planning and systematic quality work. The assignment also includes standard school library tasks such as media management, collection development and environmental monitoring, as well as communication and marketing of school library operations via social media. You ensure that operations comply with the School Act, the curriculum, the Library Act, and public access and confidentiality legislation. QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking someone who wants to help develop the school library as a pedagogical resource and an important meeting place for learning, reading, and culture. You have an academic degree in library and information science or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have good knowledge of literature and a genuine interest in children's and young adult literature as well as strong digital competence. It is meritorious if you have experience working in a school library or other instruction-related activities. As a person, you are engaged, outgoing, and relationship-building. You are organized and self-directed while enjoying working in close collaboration with others. You are creative, unpretentious, and development-oriented and view the school library as a natural part of the school's goal achievement.
