The Geriatric Acute Care Unit in Helsingborg works with the elderly population. Our patients often have unique care needs and multiple underlying conditions, with dementia and heart failure being among the most common. We work in interdisciplinary teams with patients and their families at the center. Here we meet both patients with acute illness and those at the end of life. Work on the unit is conducted in interdisciplinary teams where doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, dietitians, medical secretaries, pharmacists, and occupational therapists work together. WORK TASKS We now have the opportunity to welcome two colleagues to join our great team! Our approach is based on close and unpretentious collaboration between all professions on the unit to provide high-quality and safe care to our patients. We work according to Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA), which is a structured care approach for the elderly, meaning that each patient is comprehensively assessed physically, mentally, functionally, existentially, and socially. This assessment then forms the basis for continued care and planning. As a nurse, you will have varied and stimulating work. You have responsibility for patient care and lead the work during your shift. On the geriatric unit, we attend to each patient's needs and focus on maintaining health while respecting the patient's wishes and will. We believe in a developmental work environment where you continue to be proactive in your role. For those interested, there is an opportunity to alternate between the unit and the emergency department in your nursing position. The Geriatric Unit at Helsingborg Hospital is the first Silvia-certified care unit in Region Skåne. Swedish language skills at a minimum of level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is required. It is an advantage if you have specialist training in acute geriatrics and/or elderly care. Previous experience with dementia care and elderly care is also beneficial. We are looking for someone who is passionate about elderly care and has the holistic perspective needed to provide the best possible care.
