Welcome to Emergency Medical Services Västmanland! Job Responsibilities As a nurse in Emergency Medical Services, you will meet patients of all ages who have suffered acute illness or injury. The focus is on quality care, medical treatment, and compassion in patient encounters. You work both independently and in teams, where collaboration and knowledge sharing ensure the best possible care for the sick and injured. About the Workplace Emergency Medical Services in Region Västmanland is its own clinic within the Acute Care division. With seven stations, 16 ambulances, and approximately 40,000 assignments per year, we operate around the clock to provide care where it is needed most – quickly, professionally, and with great commitment. We operate our own dispatch center, Sjukvårdens Larmcentral, which is responsible for prioritizing and directing ambulances in Västmanland, Uppsala, Sörmland, and Värmland. In Västmanland, our dispatch operators (nurses) receive around 65,000 calls from people seeking help each year. We also have a pre-hospital competency center where we focus on professional development through practical training and education – for both current and future employees. We also conduct clinical research in care, technology, and leadership. We are also responsible for the region's SMS-aided rescue operations. Employment requires good driving experience; if you have a category C driver's license, that is an advantage. Good physical fitness is required as heavy lifting may occur in the work. The employment interview includes physical tests based on the Aasa test, a work trial, and a practical driving test. A certificate of swimming proficiency for 200 meters must be attached to your application. To thrive with us, you need to be confident and stable in your nursing role.
