Your work tasks include medication management, psychiatric nursing care and assessment, supportive conversations, telephone counseling, and documentation. Very good teamwork ability and the ability to build trustful relationships are important in this role. Since you will be working with patients in vulnerable situations, it is required that you have a respectful and professional approach and can provide patients with low-affect interactions. As a registered nurse, you have a leadership role on the department, which means you need to be good at communicating, be clear, and take initiative in your work. Previous work experience from psychiatry, treatment homes, correctional services, or similar activities is desirable. Your Future Workplace Department 21 is an acute care and treatment unit. Primarily, patients are cared for according to the Act on Compulsory Psychiatric Care on the unit, but also patients with substance abuse problems in need of care and detoxification are treated here. Patients are also cared for on a voluntary basis. You will meet patients with varying diagnoses, conditions, and needs, which makes the work varied and developmental. This fall, we moved into the newly built psychiatric facility on the hospital grounds in Västervik, where we have now consolidated all adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry in the same building. You will have the opportunity to work in spacious, beautiful premises with staff facilities offering a beautiful view over the city of Västervik. We are part of the Psychiatry Administration in Region Kalmar County. Within the administration, a total of 600 employees work with specialist psychiatric care for adults, children and adolescents, forensic psychiatric care, and rehabilitation care.
