The Heart Center in Umeå aims to provide the best care for heart patients in northern Sweden. We offer highly specialized cardiac care and have overall responsibility for patients in the region. The Heart Center includes the Cardiology Outpatient Clinic, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology, Cardiac Intervention, Arrhythmia Unit, and Clinical Physiology and Center for Cardiovascular Genetics. We assess, treat, and operate on patients from across the northern region with diseases of the heart, lungs, and coronary arteries. Through cross-border collaboration, effective care pathways, continuous improvement, and competent staff, we offer very high-quality care. We have approximately 400 employees at the Heart Center. On our Thoracic Care Unit, 50 employees work in the roles of nurses, care service assistants, and nursing assistants together around patients. We provide specialized care for patients undergoing surgery for heart, vascular, and lung diseases. Patients receive care here both before and after surgery, and we have 18 care beds. Thoracic has regional responsibility, which means patients come here from all the northernmost counties and over 1000 patients/year are operated on. We are now seeking three nurses for our team for a temporary position starting by agreement but preferably as soon as possible and extending through August 31, 2027. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a nurse with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better. The work consists of patient care, documentation, medication administration, and monitoring of vital parameters, among other things. Together with other care personnel, you work in a patient-safe manner and the work is performed both independently and together with colleagues. The work also includes contributing to development projects and mentoring students. It is enjoyable, varied, and challenging work where you have the opportunity to learn new things every day in a close-knit work team. We always help each other and we have good collaboration with other professional groups. The focus is always on the patient. On the Thoracic Care Unit, we prioritize personal development and therefore offer education in the form of theme days, in-house training, and after some time working, the opportunity to rotate to an intermediate care unit as well as the opportunity to apply for an intensive care nurse training program. QUALIFICATIONS We are now seeking someone who is a licensed nurse. We value previous experience in cardiac care or surgical care, but it is not a requirement. What we look for in you is very strong collaboration skills. We expect you to be independent while also being structured and able to prioritize your tasks. It is important that you have good communication skills with patients and colleagues. With us, you contribute your expertise to help us find good solutions on our unit.
