The Surgical and Gastroenterology Department (VO) at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) encompasses surgical and gastroenterological services in Lund and Malmö, as well as surgical services in Landskrona. We provide acute, specialized, and highly specialized care with both regional and national responsibilities. Approximately 790 employees work in this department. Surgical Departments 1 and 2 form a large unit providing high-quality care for acute surgical patients, with both preoperative and postoperative care. We are located in the New Hospital Malmö (NSM) with entirely new facilities. The unit has 49 beds divided between Surgical Departments 1 and 2, with all staff rotating between both departments. The department's multidisciplinary team includes registered nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, nursing managers, specialist nurses, advanced specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and medical secretaries. The department also has access to a pharmacist, social worker, and dietitian. In daily work, there is close support from department managers. DUTIES As a registered nurse in the department, you will follow the nursing care process from admission to discharge, which includes making assessments, conducting examinations, and evaluating patient conditions in order to plan for discharge. Your duties also include preoperative preparations, providing postoperative care, managing medical-technical equipment, and other common duties of a registered nurse in an acute surgical department. We offer an individually customized orientation program that extends throughout your first year with us, with regular follow-ups from both your manager and nursing supervisor to ensure that as a new registered nurse you feel confident in your professional practice. The orientation program includes an educational series with lectures on surgical care every other week and rotations to other units such as our outpatient clinic, emergency department, ICU, operating room, and endoscopy to gain a comprehensive understanding and deeper insight into what our surgical patients experience during their hospital stay. In addition to the educational series, we also offer internal lectures within the department, as well as case studies and other lectures in the department. We also offer registered nurses training in placing midlines. In addition to our own orientation program, we encourage newly graduated registered nurses to apply for the clinical foundation year. The department uses a wish-based scheduling system accessed through MultiAccess, giving you significant control over your own schedule. This position involves day and evening shifts with the possibility of night shifts if desired. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who wants to work with acute surgical patients. You are dedicated to your profession as a registered nurse and want to actively participate in the department's approach and forward development. You share your experience and expertise regardless of whether you are new to your role as a registered nurse or have extensive experience. Everyone is important on this unit! The position requires that you are a licensed registered nurse with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare.
