Our Operations
Habilitation's Medical Unit is part of the Disability Services operational area within the Close Care and Health administration at Region Uppsala. Habilitation serves children, adolescents, and adults with functional disabilities; autism with or without intellectual disability, intellectual disability, mobility impairment, multiple disabilities, and acquired brain injury.
The Medical Unit should identify and address medical complications that may be associated with a functional disability. This can include, for example, problems with sleep, eating situations, or mental health. The unit works closely with habilitation units and collaborates with physicians at Uppsala Academic Hospital.
The unit also holds nursing-level health care responsibility for children's residential facilities, short-term accommodation for children and adolescents in Region Uppsala, short-term accommodation within LSS for adults, and certain group homes.
The Medical Unit employs physicians, nurses, dietitians, and secretaries. We also have pediatric neurologists and resident physicians from Uppsala Academic Hospital, as well as a child psychiatry consultant who holds clinic sessions at our facilities for certain children in habilitation.
We offer
• Work with competent colleagues in multiprofessional teams
• Varied work tasks
• Well-planned introduction and designated mentor during your first year in the service
• Opportunities for internal and external professional development
• Flexible work methods, with great opportunity to manage your own work
• Opportunity to contribute to the development of the service
Your Assignment
Your work tasks include:
• Providing advice and support on medical care issues to patients with functional disabilities, their relatives, and networks.
• Being a link between the patient, their network, and other health care within the municipality and region.
• Serving as a resource person and consultant on medical issues for habilitation unit staff.
• Providing guidance and training to relatives and staff.
• Participating in regional cooperation with various habilitation units.
• Providing telephone advice, administering appointment booking, and conducting clinic visits.
• Being responsible for health and nursing care matters at the municipality's children's and youth facilities and short-term accommodation within LSS.
Your Competence
We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably with a few years of experience. It is important that you have an interest in habilitation's target groups, and we would like to see that you have previously worked with people with functional disabilities. The work requires that you have good collaboration skills and are comfortable working in a team, as well as having the ability to work independently. As service travel occurs, a valid driver's license is a requirement.
As a person, you are clear in your communication and structured in your working approach. You are attentive and have good pedagogical skills and can easily establish contact with both patients, relatives, and colleagues. It is also important that you have a desire to develop the service together with your colleagues on the unit. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Region Uppsala war-positions all permanent employees based on total defense needs. This means no obligations in peacetime for the individual employee, but is solely a planning measure.
