Make a difference. Every day.
Welcome to Adult Psychiatry Ward 1 Psychosis - Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PIVA)! Whether you are newly qualified or have experience as a registered nurse, you are warmly welcomed here. We are an established ward with a close-knit team of staff with many different competencies.
On Ward 1, we have 13 patient beds where our primary mission is to care for people with psychotic illness. The ward also includes a PIVA unit with three patient beds. Here we care for people, regardless of psychiatric diagnosis, who need a more stimulus-poor environment. Working on Ward 1/PIVA gives you the opportunity to follow and be a meaningful part of the most seriously ill patients' care journey from onset of illness to recovery and eventually discharge.
On the ward, we are a large team that works together. We always have at least two registered nurses during daytime and a team leader who can provide support when needed. We also have an administrative care assistant during each shift who helps with order and structure during work shifts. In addition to nurses, care assistants, and team leaders, our team also includes physicians, social workers, psychologists, secretaries, unit managers, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.
We have high baseline staffing during all work shifts and have collectively designed a schedule that promotes recovery and wellbeing.
