About Us
Region Sörmland's eye clinic is a regional clinic with facilities at three hospitals in Eskilstuna, Nyköping, and Katrineholm. We conduct approximately 60,000 visits per year and operate both surgical and outpatient services, including on-call services. The Eskilstuna facility is the largest with approximately 45 employees.
We who work here are physicians, nurses, ophthalmic nurses, orthoptists, opticians, nursing assistants, and administrative staff, all with different expertise to provide our patients with the best care.
Your Responsibilities
As a nurse at our eye clinic, you will have varied and dynamic work.
On the surgical unit, you will assist physicians with various procedures including cataract surgeries and be responsible for instrument handling, equipment management, and sterility. We have fast-paced workflows and large numbers of patients, which requires great flexibility on your part.
Duties at the outpatient clinic include preparing patients for physician visits with various examinations, and you may also have independent clinic sessions, for example retinal photography and visual field testing. A large patient group we serve has age-related macular degeneration. These conditions are treated with intravitreal injections, which our nurses perform after training.
Advisory services via Tele Q are also part of the nursing duties, but this will become relevant after you have gained some experience with our operations.
At our eye clinic, it is important to provide you with a proper introduction and orientation so you feel confident when working independently. You will have a mentor you can always turn to with questions and concerns, and of course, other colleagues are always nearby.
Your Qualifications
We seek you as a licensed nurse in healthcare, an ophthalmic nurse, or an operating room nurse, preferably with several years of experience.
We place great importance on your personal qualities.
You are curious, attentive, accustomed to taking responsibility, have good ability to collaborate within and across professions, and have a positive attitude toward your work. It is important that you have a holistic perspective and consider the best interests of the entire operation in your actions and decisions.
If you are interested in deepening your knowledge and expertise, there is an opportunity to further educate yourself as an ophthalmic nurse later.
