Radiation Physics is a department within the Centre for Information Technology and Medical Technology (CIMT) at Region Västerbotten. We have 23 employees, most of whom are hospital physicists, working with radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, X-ray physics, and non-ionizing radiation throughout the region. Radiation Physics collaborates closely with Umeå University in research, education, and development. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a hospital physicist with us, you will create conditions for collaboration, new knowledge, and a strong future. We are now seeking a new team member for the X-ray Physics section. Within the section, we perform classical hospital physics tasks with a continuous effort to digitalize and automate all aspects of radiation safety to maximize opportunities and time to collaborate with clinical staff throughout the region. For example, most of our quality assurance activities for X-ray equipment function are digitalized, we develop our own analysis methods for data from radiation dose monitoring and the region's radiation protection portal, and we maintain and develop e-learning. As the majority of the section's staff holds doctoral degrees, we have a well-established academic approach, even in daily clinical work. The Radiation Physics Department continuously works with our management system, which we have developed together with other operations within CIMT. This means we have clear frameworks for management and governance, and there are opportunities for new employees to quickly learn the department's routines and understand what systematic quality work entails. Systematic quality work is also at the core of the section's close collaboration with colleagues from Medical Technology, Medical Imaging and Functional Medicine, and Dentistry. The role offers a unique opportunity to join a driven and challenging work environment where we have well-established regional, national, and international collaborations in quality and radiation safety. Within the section, you will work alongside four other hospital physicists, and based on your expertise, you will be assigned different roles, for example as coordinator for your own modality area (e.g., mammography, fluoroscopy, etc.). QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who is a certified hospital physicist or equivalent. Professional experience as a hospital physicist, particularly in diagnostics, practical programming experience (e.g., Python, SQL, and web) with a focus on data analysis, and academic experience are merits. We would appreciate it if you have experience in development work and project management. You must have strong skills in both Swedish and English. The operation has a strong focus on collaboration with clinical staff throughout the region. We therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability and drive for the position.
