The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial problems and adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also manages closed youth care. We operate youth residential facilities and homes for adults with substance abuse issues throughout the country. Working at SiS means your professional life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformation. SiS Youth Residential Facility Stigby on Visingsö accommodates 35 young people and receives non-compulsory schooling boys with psychosocial problems, criminal backgrounds, and substance abuse issues. We are divided into one intake and needs assessment unit, four treatment units, and one discharge preparation unit in Jönköping. Job Description The school operations at SiS Youth Residential Facility Stigby offer education for 35 young people. Students study within the introduction program. They are offered primary school subjects, various upper secondary subjects, and vocational practical training with elements from working life in the form of work-based learning. There are four vocational programs: industrial, construction, vehicle and transport, and restaurant and food service programs. Additionally, we have a football focus which means close cooperation with the island's football club, as football is an important component in both school and treatment activities. Teaching takes place in small groups. School operations are a very important success factor in institutional care and the largest protective factor for our young people. Your assignment involves teaching construction and building together with another teacher. To succeed in your teaching role, you need to be able to build relationships with your students—this is the starting point in our work that leads to students developing their learning and abilities. Your personal suitability is the key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to be an empathetic person driven by a strong inner passion and desire to achieve extraordinary results. Being a colleague who shares knowledge and contributes to the team spirit at SiS is another quality that makes you interesting. Equally important is having a solid positive view of humanity and the ability to handle conflicts constructively. We work in teams where we expect you to contribute your knowledge, lessons learned, and where collegial learning is a natural part of your teaching role. You will be part of a team working together for a positive work environment where everyone's ideas are respected and welcomed. Work hours are during daytime. Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our mindset. Qualifications We are primarily looking for someone who is a vocational teacher with qualifications to teach construction and building, or alternatively has at least five years of experience from the industry and a strong drive to teach and mentor students. We expect you to meet the following requirements: Solid experience in the industry and a desire to inspire and develop the next generation of construction and building workers Good view of humanity—where equal value for all people is self-evident and where you have intercultural awareness Pedagogical insight—where you are flexible in your thinking, creative, and enjoy working thematically and across subjects Empathetic ability and are relationship-building, as you realize that relationships are the foundation for student learning and development Collaboration skills while being able to work independently, in a structured manner, and take own initiatives Personal maturity, stability, integrity, and clarity Perseverance—you don't give up at the first setback but believe in the student and their ability to succeed in their learning Class B driver's license Meritorious: Previous experience teaching our target group At SiS we cultivate good colleague relationships. This means that as an employee you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation.
