Statens Institutionsstyrelse · Full-time
Visingsö, Sweden
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized forced care for youth with complex psychosocial problems and adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also carries out closed youth care. We do this at youth institutions and homes for adults with substance abuse throughout the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformation. SiS Youth Institution Stigby on Visingsö has capacity for 35 youth and receives non-compulsory school-aged boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into an MBB unit (intake and needs assessment), four treatment units, and a discharge preparation unit in Jönköping. Job Description SiS Youth Institution Stigby's school operations offer education for 35 youth. Students study within introductory programs. They are offered elementary school subjects, various high school subjects, and vocational practical training with elements from working life in the form of APL (work-based learning). There are four vocational programs: industrial, construction, vehicles and transport, and restaurant and food service. Teaching takes place in small groups. School operations are a very important success factor within institutional care. Your assignment involves teaching at the high school level but also conducting instruction at the elementary school level, as many of our students lack final grades from elementary school. The majority of students have experienced significant difficulties in their previous schooling. To succeed in your teaching role, you need to be able to build relationships with your students—this is the starting point in our work that leads to students developing their learning and abilities. Our assignment makes a difference every day. We work in teams, and we expect you to contribute your knowledge, lessons learned, and where collaborative learning is a natural part of your teaching role. You become part of a team that works together for a positive work environment where everyone's ideas are respected and welcomed. Therefore, you need to be a warm, empathetic person driven by a strong inner passion and with clarity in your approach. Being a colleague who shares knowledge and contributes to the we-spirit at SiS are other qualities that make you interesting. Equally important is that you have a positive view of people and an ability to handle conflicts constructively. Working hours are daytime. Our vision is to be a place for change and this permeates our interactions, our commitment, and our approach. Qualifications We are primarily seeking someone with teacher certification in mathematics and natural sciences and authorization to teach at the high school level. We also welcome someone with teacher certification for grades 7-9. We see that you meet the following requirements: A good view of students—where all people's equal worth is a given and you have intercultural awareness. Pedagogical insight—where you are flexible in your thinking, creative, and enjoy working thematically and interdisciplinarily with other teachers. Relationship-building and empathetic ability, as you understand that relationships are the foundation for student learning and development. Have collaboration skills while being able to work independently, in a structured manner, and take initiative. You are stable, have personal maturity, integrity, and are clear. Resilient—you don't give up at the first setback but believe in the student and their ability to succeed in their learning. You must be able to express yourself well verbally and in writing. Driver's license—Category B. Meritorious if you have: Authorization to teach other subjects. Previous experience teaching our target group. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. At SiS, we care about good collegiality. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation.
