The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Statens institutionsstyrelse, SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse disorders. SiS also implements secure youth care. We operate youth residential facilities and homes for adults with substance abuse issues throughout the country. SiS Youth Residential Facility Stigby on Visingsö has capacity for 35 young people and receives non-school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminal behavior, and substance abuse problems. We are divided into an MBB unit (reception and needs assessment), four treatment units, and a discharge preparation unit in Jönköping. Job Description Do you want to be part of creating vital change for vulnerable people? If so, the position of treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivation work and provide support in daily life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to ensuring that treatment plans are carried out. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our procedures and you contribute to ensuring that daily life runs smoothly with schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. Contact person responsibilities are also among your tasks. The work may also include serving as a mentor for new staff members and interns. This is a job for someone who sees a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, gratifying, and varied. Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude. Working hours are according to schedule: day, evening, and weekends. As a new employee, you will complete SiS basic training over 10 weeks. The training combines theory with supervised introduction, preparing you for the treatment role in SiS operations. Qualifications To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and you share SiS values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a strong ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are confident in yourself and find it easy to build relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in stressful situations. You work well with others and can handle conflicts constructively. You must also have: A diploma from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent Category B driver's license Good Swedish in speech and writing Meritorious: Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, such as work in psychiatry or LSS care Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care or youth care) At SiS, we value good collegiality.
