The Swedish Prison and Probation Service, SiS, is a government agency responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS Youth Institution Hässleholm is a secure facility with four treatment units, two intake and needs assessment units (MBB), and one open TFCO unit. At Karlsvik in Höör, we have an open discharge preparation unit. The unit is part of our operations where treatment activities mainly consist of skills training aimed at preparing youth for a functioning life after their time at SiS, both practically and socially. We primarily receive school-age boys but also girls, with ongoing criminal involvement and in some cases substance abuse issues. Job Description Do you want to help create vital change for vulnerable people? Then a position as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivation work and provide daily support. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to implementing treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal security, planning, and monitoring of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our procedures and you contribute to ensuring that daily life runs smoothly with school attendance, cleaning, cooking, and more. Key worker responsibilities are also among your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new staff and interns. This is a job for someone who sees a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, rewarding, and varied. As a new employee, you will complete a mandatory introductory week before starting work on the unit. Theory is combined with supervised introduction and the training prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations. Qualifications To succeed in your work, you have a firmly grounded positive view of people. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and you share SiS values—to be a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are confident in yourself and find it easy to build relationships with youth as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in stressful situations. You work well with others and can handle conflicts constructively. You must also have: A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational school (KY/YH) with focus on social/educational treatment work or education from a university that we deem equivalent Your vocational training must be CSN-approved Category B driving license Good Swedish, spoken and written Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations At SiS we value good collegial relationships.
