The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Statens institutionsstyrelse, SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS Youth Home Hässleholm is a secure institution with four treatment units, two admission and needs assessment (MBB) units, and one open TFCO unit. We primarily serve school-age boys but also girls, who are involved in ongoing criminal activity and in some cases have substance abuse issues. Job Description Do you want to be part of creating life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then working as a treatment educator at SiS is a meaningful challenge. You work in a team with trained treatment educators and operational leaders, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the youth living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal certainty, planning, and monitoring of our operations. You help maintain security according to our procedures and contribute to continuous improvement at SiS. We are now seeking 2 staff members for night shift temporary positions. Our operations run 24/7, and as a night shift worker you are responsible for the youth's well-being and safety, with a primary focus on promoting their sleep routines and being available for them when needed. Night is the most challenging time of day for many, and sleep problems are very common among our youth, which makes a trusted adult who can offer support through conversation or other means a very important piece of the puzzle. The work can vary greatly in intensity from very quiet nights to nights that demand a lot from you as a treatment educator. You always work awake on night shifts at times between 21:00-08:00 on weekdays and 20:45-08:15 on weekends. You work according to a rotating schedule in a team with several other treatment assistants and educators. The current schedule is under review and may change in the future. As night staff, you have a work capacity of 78.01%. This is a position for someone who sees a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, rewarding, and varied. The work may also include serving as a mentor to new staff members. Qualifications To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and you share SiS values—to be a place for change. Furthermore, you have a strong ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are confident and find it easy to build relationships with youth as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in stressful situations. You work well with others and can handle conflicts constructively. You must also have: A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education program at a folk high school or vocational high school (KY/YH) with a focus on social/educational treatment work or education from a university that we consider equivalent. CSN eligible education Passed core subjects at secondary school Class B driver's license Good Swedish, both spoken and written For this position, we require that you have previous experience with night work in a similar field. As a new staff member, you will complete an introduction week that is mandatory before beginning work in the unit. The training alternates theory with supervised introduction and equips you for the treatment role in SiS operations. At SiS, we prioritize good collegial relationships.
