Senior System Developer for Mission-Critical Web Services

Within IT Development, we are approximately 55 employees working in self-managed and cross-functional development teams. The teams are responsible for the entire lifecycle – from idea and development to operation and further development of mission-critical systems and services. To meet new assignments and increased responsibility, we are now seeking several senior system developers who want to be part of developing SMHI's web services – from data services and APIs to modern user interfaces. About the Role As a senior system developer with us, you will be part of one of our development teams within IT Development. The teams work within different operational areas, such as hydrology, climate, meteorology, or air quality. You will primarily work on developing web-based services where large amounts of data about weather, water, climate, and environment are processed, visualized, and made accessible to users. Our services are used by, among others, authorities, urban planners, businesses, and the general public. You will be involved in the entire development chain – from analysis and design to implementation, testing, operations, and further development. The work includes both backend development and data services as well as modern web interfaces and visualizations. You will, among other things: Develop backend and frontend solutions Work with APIs, data services, and integrations Develop user-facing web services for visualizing mission-critical information Contribute to architecture, technology choices, and long-term system development Collaborate closely with both developers and the business We work agile, and the teams are collectively responsible for quality, delivery, and operation of their systems. We are Looking for You With Post-secondary education in system development, computer science, or equivalent competence acquired through work experience At least five years of work experience as a system developer At least three years of work experience developing in Linux-based environments At least three years of work experience in system development with Python Experience with web development using JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks, such as React Experience working in agile teams Good knowledge of Swedish and English It is a merit if you have in-depth experience in Java or TypeScript Leaflet, MapLibre, or similar libraries for map-based web solutions System architecture CI/CD and work in automated IT environments Design of robust and complex systems with high availability requirements (24/7) PostgreSQL Accessibility adaptation according to WCAG Who Are You?
