Working in the police IT department means being a crucial part of police operations. Whether it's developing new operational apps, developing forensic technology, or gathering digital evidence, well-functioning IT solutions are essential.
Our unit, Police Common Systems, is responsible for providing common IT capabilities and IT support used across multiple police areas. We develop and manage applications and services that support operational, investigative, intelligence, forensic, and administrative systems with information and functionality. The Police Common Systems unit also includes the Mobile Systems Development section, where this position is located. The section consists of three groups with overall responsibility for designing, building, testing, and maintaining mobile solutions along with associated backend services and systems.
You will be based in modern facilities centrally located on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week. Job Description
As a Senior Systems Developer, you will work in an experienced development team responsible for central systems within the authority. The role as Senior Systems Developer primarily involves developing internal components used by several of the authority's development teams. You contribute with technical expertise, drive architectural questions, and ensure high quality in both code and solutions. We work in an agile and iterative manner, with high technical ambition and a clear focus on quality.
A typical workday may include:
- Developing and further developing systems in C# and .NET
- New development of both desktop applications and backend solutions
- Maintenance and further development of complex systems with high demands on security and performance
- Actively contributing to technical guidelines and architectural choices to develop sustainable and efficient system solutions
- Close collaboration, such as operational practice with end users in the field within police operations to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Contributing to architecture and design decisions
- Coaching and supporting other developers in the team
- Ensuring high levels of security, performance, and code quality

Qualifications
This is an opportunity for you if you have:
- Relevant higher education in IT or a degree from a relevant vocational training program. Alternatively, equivalent acquired experience that the Police Authority considers equivalent
- Several years of current and relevant work experience in systems development with C# and .NET
- Work experience in application development for Windows
- Work experience in systems design and participation in discussions about system architecture
- Experience with authentication solutions, preferably in Windows
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
The position requires Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
The following competencies/technical areas are meritorious; you don't need to have expertise in everything, as you will have the opportunity to learn/receive further training with us on-site:
- Deep knowledge of Windows APIs
- A couple of years of experience working in an organization with high security requirements and good understanding of IT security principles
- Development with high quality requirements and of performance-critical IT systems
- Experience with test-driven development
- Experience with SQLite
