Your new job
As a Senior Fire Safety Engineer, you will become part of the Property Department, which ensures that Jönköping Municipality's operations have functional and sustainable facilities. Through long-term planning, energy efficiency, and good maintenance, the department develops, builds, operates, and maintains the municipality's properties.
In this role, you will have overall responsibility for fire safety in the municipality's properties, both in existing real estate and in new construction and renovation projects. You will represent the Property Department on fire safety matters and ensure that our buildings comply with applicable legislation, authority requirements, and the municipality's technical guidelines.
You will work both strategically and operatively to develop guidelines, make technical decisions, and support operations in complex fire safety matters. The role involves many contact points where you collaborate with project managers, facility managers, consultants, contractors, authorities, and other specialist functions.
The position is primarily based at the municipality building Hoven, Västra Storgatan 16.
Your responsibilities
- Review and quality assure fire safety solutions in new construction and renovation projects from a property owner perspective
- Ensure that design, installations, and technical solutions comply with applicable regulations such as BBR, SBF 110, and SBF 502
- Manage the municipality's overall strategy and technical level for fire safety in existing properties
- Support facility management, projects, and other operations in technical and strategic fire safety matters
- Follow up with contractors, service providers, and technical installations to ensure quality and compliance
- Develop and maintain technical guidelines, procedures, and policies in the fire safety area
- Act as an expert contact point with authorities, consultants, contractors, and inspection bodies

We are looking for someone who is analytical and strategic with a strong ability to see the bigger picture and make well-founded decisions in complex technical matters. You work in a structured and quality-conscious manner and have the ability to drive matters long-term from analysis to implementation.
The role involves many contact points, which requires you to be communicative, pedagogical, and have an ease for creating trustful collaborations. You are confident in your expertise, accustomed to working independently, and at the same time have a good ability to contribute in projects and cross-functional collaborations.
Requirements
- Relevant higher education or vocational training in fire safety, electrical, automation, safety technology, or another field that the employer considers equivalent, or corresponding experience
- Several years of experience with advanced design, commissioning, or management of technical fire safety systems
- Good knowledge of Swedish regulations, such as BBR, SBF 110, and SBF 502, occupational health and safety legislation, and public procurement-related processes
- Solid experience in handling both construction projects and complex existing installations
- Good system skills and experience with technical documentation and follow-up
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- Category B driver's license
Merits
- Certified competent fire alarm engineer (BIB) according to SBF 1018
- Experience from municipal operations or other large property owners
- In-depth technical experience with fire alarm systems and integrated systems
