Traffic Operations Division's Mission at the Swedish Transport Administration
The Swedish Transport Administration's mission within Traffic Operations is crucial to bringing Sweden closer together. Our assignment is to ensure that everyone can get around smoothly, sustainably and safely. We are now seeking an engaged and driven first-line manager who wants to take responsibility for staff, operations and budget within railway traffic management!
Duties
As a first-line manager, you will play a decisive role in leading, planning and following up on work in your section to ensure efficiency, safety and high delivery quality in traffic management, in accordance with established operational targets. In this role, you will have personnel responsibility for a team of approximately 20 railway traffic controllers who work three shifts, around the clock, year-round. You will be a close and responsive leader, responsible for motivating, developing and supporting your employees through both challenges and changes. By being an engaged manager, you ensure that the team functions well in a dynamic, three-shift-based work environment, while promoting a positive work climate and high job satisfaction.
You will work in a national organization, which means that cooperation and collaboration are central to achieving success. It is important that you have the ability to deliver together with other sections and functions at the Swedish Transport Administration, where you actively contribute to creating common solutions and driving improvements. In this role, it is also crucial that you network and build relationships both within and outside your section to create a strong and collaboration-oriented work environment.
Your role will be varied and challenging - you are responsible for continuously analyzing and improving work processes, identifying efficiencies and driving development both within your section and in collaboration with other parts of the Swedish Transport Administration. You will be a leader for change, and your ability to create common solutions and collaborate across boundaries will be crucial for success.
As section chief, you will be an important part of the management team and report directly to the unit manager. Here you will have the opportunity to influence, develop and lead employees in a way that makes a difference for the entire Swedish Transport Administration.

We are looking for someone who
- has a university or college degree of at least 180 credits (120 points) in leadership, or alternatively other education combined with experience that the Swedish Transport Administration considers equivalent
- has current, relevant and several years of work experience as a first-line manager with personnel, budget and operational responsibility
- has current and relevant work experience leading change and development work
- has good knowledge of Swedish, spoken and written
It is meriting if you
- have current and relevant work experience in operations where work is carried out at high speed with changing conditions at an alarm center, emergency room or airport, alternatively other experience that the Swedish Transport Administration considers equivalent
- have current and relevant work experience managing shift-working staff in a 24/7 operation
- have current and relevant experience working in government operations, alternatively other experience that the Swedish Transport Administration considers equivalent
Additional Information
Recruiting manager Nils Jordan is on vacation from June 7 - August 9, but will be available for any questions again on August 10.

The position is located in Hallsberg.
The employment is classified as a security position. Employment requires a passed security clearance, conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
Employment at the Swedish Transport Administration is permanent, but the manager assignment is time-limited, initially for 4 years.
