Ekerö Culture School is a leisure activity that offers children and young people instruction and activities in various artistic subjects and forms of expression such as music, theater, and film. The Culture School is also responsible for Culture in School, where all children in grades 0-2 encounter different cultural expressions. The unit consists of 16 teachers, a supervisor, and a manager. The Culture School's regular teacher will be on parental leave, and we are therefore seeking a substitute vocal teacher at 40% during the fall semester 2026 at the Culture School at Tappström near Ekerö Center. You will teach children and young people aged 9-21 with varying backgrounds and provide singing lessons at different levels. You will teach mainly in small groups, but rock/pop bands and individual instruction also occur. You master your own artistic expression, have a well-developed singing voice, and good singing technique and musical ability, which means you can consistently model and use your voice in teaching. You master piano playing and can accompany, arrange, and adapt material for the students. You take independent responsibility for your student groups and work to maintain good relationships with students and their guardians. You have the ability to inspire your students and make them feel secure. You collaborate with colleagues to help fulfill the Culture School's goals and commitments through, for example, band activities, concerts, and outward-facing marketing initiatives. You contribute to activity development through active participation in meetings and professional development. You are responsible for scheduling and administration in consultation with your manager. Ekerö Culture School applies teacher contracts with vacation service. Work time on-site is primarily Mondays and Wednesdays around 12-19. Some Wednesdays work begins at 10. Other work days may occur by agreement. Qualifications For you to succeed with this assignment, you should have: music education higher education with singing as a major subject, or equivalent competence that the employer deems equivalent experience teaching children and young people singing experience with group instruction and adapting material for students at different levels well-developed singing voice and good singing technique and musical ability knowledge of piano playing at a sufficiently high level to accompany, arrange, and adapt material for students genre breadth and good repertoire knowledge with primary focus on rock/pop basic IT skills.
