Hello! Are you our new preschool teacher at Fjälldalen Preschool?
We are now seeking a Sámi-speaking preschool teacher for our Sámi minority language division, Heavdni.
Fjälldalen Preschool is a preschool with six departments where nature and the mountains are close at hand, and as a pedagogue you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in shaping the preschool of the future. The preschool opened in January 2025, and we are now looking for someone who wants to join a wonderful team of colleagues and build long-term work at the preschool. At the preschool, we meet our children in their first education and in their first steps in lifelong learning, and as a preschool teacher, you play an important role.
Responsibilities
As a preschool teacher, you will be part of a work team and responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the teaching offered to the children. You collaborate with the team and together you provide children with engaging and educational instruction. As a preschool teacher, you have a special responsibility to lead goal-oriented processes and in your teaching to ensure that:
care, development, and learning form a unified whole, planning and implementation are based on the curriculum and on the knowledge and experiences that children have previously acquired,
spontaneously arising activities and interests, everyday activities and routines at the preschool become part of the teaching, and
develop pedagogical content and environments that inspire development and learning and that challenge and stimulate children's interest and curiosity while maintaining their attention.
As a Sámi-speaking preschool teacher, you will work in our Sámi minority language division, Heavdni, and work to strengthen children's Sámi language as well as Sámi culture. We work to ensure that Sámi is integrated into children's everyday lives and in the various situations children encounter at the preschool.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a certified preschool teacher and speaks Sámi (for example, Lule Sámi or North Sámi).
It is important that:
you are well versed in the curriculum (Lpfö18),
you are a confident and clear leader, take initiative, are positive, and have faith in children's various competencies,
you have knowledge of and use various teaching tools,
you have trusting relationships with children and guardians and have good collaboration skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and personal suitability.
you use pedagogical conversations and pedagogical documentation in your work,
you use visual supports and TAKK (signs as alternative and supplementary communication),
you develop and advance the preschool according to the curriculum.
Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite for the position.
Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sámi, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a merit in applications for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
For the position, a certificate from the Police Criminal Record, https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/skola-eller-forskola/ is required, and you must present a valid ID card showing citizenship and a valid work permit.
