We are seeking an experienced and driven Risk Engineer to strengthen our health and safety work with a particular focus on ATEX (dust) and systematic fire protection work (SBA).
About the Role
As a Risk Engineer, you will become a key person in our safety efforts. Our operations handle metal powders, which demands high requirements for explosion protection, fire protection, and strategic occupational health and safety work. You will be responsible for developing and driving both ATEX and SBA processes, with a particular focus on risk identification, risk assessment, and risk prevention work, while working closely with production, technical teams, and management to create a safe and secure workplace.
Your Main Responsibilities
ATEX – With Focus on Dust
Lead and further develop ATEX work with particular emphasis on dust explosion risks.
Perform classification according to SSEN 60079-10-02 with focus on risk zones.
Responsible for and update explosion protection documentation (EVD) with focus on metal powder, dust, and associated risks.
Ensure that the correct EX-classified equipment for dust is used, installed, and inspected based on risk scenarios.
Conduct training and coach the organization in dust-related explosion safety and risk awareness.
Together with operational management, identify risks, investigate events and accidents related to explosions.
SBA – Systematic Fire Protection Work
Lead and follow up the company's SBA according to LSO, internal guidelines, and applicable standards.
Ensure that procedures, instructions, and controls related to fire protection are current and followed, with clear risk management.
Conduct and document inspections and internal audits with a focus on identifying fire risks.
Coordinate work with external stakeholders such as the Fire Service and manage regulatory and supervision matters related to fire risks.
Initiate and drive improvement projects related to fire prevention measures and reduction of fire risks.
Together with operational management, identify risks, investigate events and accidents related to fires.
Other Occupational Health and Safety Work
Conduct risk assessments, safety rounds, and investigations of deviations, accidents, and near misses, with a focus on risk-reducing measures.
Support the organization in interpreting occupational health and safety requirements and associated risks.
Conduct training in occupational health and safety, ATEX, and fire protection with a focus on risk-aware culture.
Participate in and drive improvement projects within health and safety and safe culture and integrated risk management.
Who Are You?
We are looking for someone who combines facts and structure with commitment and inspiration. You have a natural ability to build trust, drive change, and create engagement.
You have relevant academic education, for example as a risk engineer with competence in occupational health and safety, technology, fire protection, or equivalent experience in risk management. You have documented expertise in ATEX, with particular focus on dust and explosion risks in industrial environments, as well as experience with systematic fire protection work (SBA) in industrial operations.
Further, you have very good knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations, such as AML, AFS, and LSO, and are experienced in implementing these in practice. You have the ability to lead, drive, and anchor change initiatives in organizations, and you communicate in a clear and pedagogical manner. It is natural for you to train, coach, and create engagement in safety and occupational health and safety matters.
It is a merit if you have experience from process or metal industry, have worked with ISO management systems, such as ISO 45001, and have experience in project management or driving larger safety-related projects that include risk analysis.
You are simply a person who is passionate about creating safe and sustainable workplaces – and who leads by example.
