Who are we?
Development Pedagogy operates schools and care services for people with disabilities. Our school programs serve students who need extra engagement and support to develop to their full potential based on their individual circumstances. We work with small student groups and high staff ratios.
What we're looking for
We need several hourly substitutes to cover regular staff absences at Svedenskolan. We're looking for you—someone curious and eager to contribute to others' growth! You're ready to develop yourself to meet others according to their needs, and you take significant shared responsibility with colleagues to ensure students have the best possible school experience. Flexibility is an important personal quality, as the role requires you to adjust your focus based on what matters in each moment.
Job Responsibilities
As a resource educator, you provide hands-on support to student groups and individual students throughout the school day. You have primary responsibility for all school time that isn't classroom instruction: breaks, transitions, recreational time, and lunch. You also help ensure lessons run smoothly for students and support teachers in reading what level of challenge is appropriate for each day.
Areas of Responsibility:
· Ensure UP's pedagogical core concept permeates the entire day; for example, providing instructions both visually/in writing and verbally, using time management aids, and balancing students' energy levels throughout the day.
· Meaningful and restorative breaks; you plan, lead, and participate in break activities together with other resource educators.
· Safe transitions and transfers; you prepare students for the next lesson, ensure they arrive calmly and have what they need.
· Enriching recreational activities; together with other resource educators, you plan and implement engaging activities during free time, ensure students get to their taxi or transportation, and evaluate and develop the program.
· Medical support according to self-care plans; you ensure routines from treating physicians are followed, for example regarding medications and assistive devices.
· Support to mentors and teachers
· Contact with guardians.
You and your team colleagues ensure an engaging and developmental school day for students—from arrival in the morning to departure in the afternoon. You handle unexpected events, challenging situations, and sometimes high pressure through collaborative teamwork and high flexibility.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who wants to work as a resource educator and has a high school diploma in either Child and Recreation Programs, Care Services, or Assistant Education via vocational training. We appreciate good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
Personal suitability will be weighted heavily.
As a person, you're unpretentious and believe in collaboration. Good and trusting relationships are important to you, and you share our values of Forward, Together with Heart and Wisdom.
