You as an applicant We are seeking someone who is a professor and who has: substantial research and teaching experience and the ability to lead and develop research and education of high international quality. experience in building and developing strong research environments and in initiating and participating in major research applications. documented teaching experience and good understanding of student conditions and quality of education. good insight into the conditions, terms, working methods, and organization of the university and higher education sector. experience as a manager and leader, including experience leading through other managers and in the employer role within complex organizations. It is also important that the rector has proactive capacity and strong understanding of budgeting and financial management within the sector. proven experience in change management and the ability to translate strategic decisions into concrete development. As rector, you should have leadership and capabilities that enable you to: combine inspiring and strategic academic leadership with the role as chief executive and lead with clarity, responsiveness, and unpretentiousness. communicate and anchor strategy, vision, decisions, and choices clearly both internally and externally. develop and navigate within a profiled institution's conditions and opportunities, where breadth in education and research is combined with strong centers of excellence. promote and protect academic freedom and encourage critical thinking and creative, interdisciplinary, and practice-oriented approaches. act for functioning labor-management cooperation, including collegial structures, the student union, and trade union partners. participate in public discourse and represent the institution in collaboration with civil society, industry, and the public sector, and cooperate with other institutions and collaboration partners to strengthen competency supply regionally, nationally, and internationally. The Rector of University of Borås must fulfill the formal qualifications required according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 2, Section 11. Your assignment University of Borås is seeking an experienced, development-oriented, curious, and visionary academic leader who with strategic perspective, integrity, and inclusive leadership can lead the institution's continued development. The rector shall further develop the University's profile and strategic direction toward Sweden's textile university and strengthen its position as an internationally recognized and socially relevant institution. The rector's assignment involves creating conditions and capabilities for research and education of the highest quality, strengthening academic culture and collegial anchoring, and further developing collaboration with industry, the public sector, civil society, and international partners. The rector shall have the ability to drive change in a complex academic environment, create engagement and participation among employees and students, and be a clear representative of University of Borås. The rector shall work for a vibrant campus, strong student influence, and high presence among employees, students, the student union, and in the surrounding society regionally, nationally, and internationally. Your employment The rector is appointed by decision of the government following a proposal from the Board of University of Borås. Employment is time-limited according to the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100) and applies for a period of at most six years. The employment may be renewed in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Ordinance. Start date June 1, 2027, or by agreement.
