About the Job We are looking for a committed principal who works long-term and strategically with clear goals together with staff to create the best possible education for students at Lane-Ryrs School. The assignment also includes being the manager of the school librarians in the Preschool and Primary School Administration, as well as responsibility for cultural offerings within primary school and adapted primary school. With us, you have great freedom to shape the school's internal organization together with your colleagues, while you never stand alone with the larger challenges. As a principal in our organization, you have access to solid support in the form of resources and specialists to collaborate with. Most are organized within the Quality and Development Division, the Preschool and Primary School Administration's own division for support and advice in systematic quality work, professional development, and the principal's pedagogical leadership. You also have access to administrative, financial, and legal support. The HR Department supports personnel matters. All new principals in primary schools are offered a mentor and an introduction plan. Primary school is led by two department heads, one responsible for primary school grades F-6 and after-school care, and one responsible for primary school grades 7-9 and adapted primary school. The principal group comprises approximately 26 unit managers and principals. Lane-Ryrs School is a smaller unit with around 175 students and approximately 20 employees. The school is located in the scenic area of Lane-Ryr. In recent years, Lane-Ryrs School has undergone changes in structures and organization to create a sustainable organization. Currently, work is underway to further develop the quality of instruction with a focus on student learning. Here, a new principal needs to take over and continue developing forms for collegial learning with a focus on student results, together with teachers and student support services. As manager of the seven school librarians and with responsibility for cultural offerings within primary school and adapted primary school, you drive the overall development of school libraries and cultural offerings in the administration. A library plan for primary school has been developed, and the next step is to begin working based on that plan. Work Tasks The principal leads and develops their area of responsibility and plays a crucial role in the school's results and pedagogical development. The principal has overall responsibility for leading and coordinating pedagogical work, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment, and promoting children's and students' learning, development, and well-being. As manager of the school librarians, you drive the overall development of school libraries in the administration. Who Are We Looking For? Your primary task as principal of Lane-Ryrs School and manager of the school librarians is to develop the activities together with staff from a holistic and student perspective. To succeed with this, we want you to be: A leader with clear focus on students' right to education A clear leader with the courage to make decisions An analytical leader with the ability to translate analysis into practical action A person with engaged and present leadership Communicative and with a strong ability to build cohesive work teams A leader who works for and contributes to all of Uddevalla Municipality Qualifications The position requires that you have: Certification as a primary school teacher, after-school care teacher, or preschool teacher At least 3 years of experience working in primary school and/or after-school care Class B driver's license For the position, it is meritorious if you have: Experience working as a principal or assistant principal Experience leading school library operations Started or completed principal training Started or completed recruitment training for future principals, or equivalent higher education Other Information Recruitment takes place through two interviews, as well as personality and logic tests. The first interview takes place digitally in the afternoon of August 14, 2026. Candidates selected for the second interview will undergo a personality and logic test. The second interview takes place in person in the afternoon of August 19, 2026. Employment is subject to required decisions being made. For positions where work involves direct and regular contact with children and young people, as well as for activities under the Disability Services Act, care and elderly care, healthcare, psychiatric care, and addiction treatment services, a valid extract from the police criminal record must be presented or submitted before employment.
