Adult Education encompasses education at basic and upper secondary levels, Swedish language instruction for immigrants, special education services, adapted education for adults, and vocational training at the upper secondary level. Adult Education also functions as a learning center that includes examination services, study and career counseling, library services, and educational support for students and citizens. In total, Adult Education comprises approximately 90 employees, of which approximately 65 are teachers. Adult Education is led by a School Director, Administrative Director, and three Rectors. Your Responsibilities As Rector for Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) within the municipal adult education program, you hold overall responsibility for the quality, development, and results of the operations. You lead and develop the education based on the Education Act, curriculum, governing documents, political objectives, and operational plans in close collaboration with the School Director. In this role, you are responsible for planning, leading, monitoring, and ensuring quality of pedagogical activities to provide education that meets both students' needs and society's skills requirements. You also manage admissions to the Swedish for Immigrants program and work to ensure that the education is accessible, efficient, and conducted according to law. As Rector, you exercise trust-based leadership with personnel, work environment, and operational responsibility for approximately 25 employees. Your duties include workplace meetings, employee conversations, salary reviews, skills development, recruitment, and personnel planning. You also hold budget responsibility for the operations, which includes responsibility for financial planning, monitoring, and resource allocation. An important part of your role is to monitor the external environment and follow government decisions at local, regional, and national levels. You collaborate with other authorities, networks, industry representatives, and employers to develop operations and strengthen students' opportunities for labor market integration. You are part of Adult Education's management group and contribute, together with the School Director and other leaders, to strategic and pedagogical development work. You work closely with your rector colleagues within Adult Education and promote a cohesive organization where shared goals, core values, and development initiatives are in focus. Who Are You? We are seeking someone with a relevant academic degree that the employer considers suitable for the position, such as a teaching degree or a degree from a study and career counseling program. You have strong skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good digital competence and use digital tools as a natural support in leadership, communication, monitoring, and operational development. It is an asset if you have rector training. We would also like to see if you have training in leadership, labor law, or Swedish as a second language. You have good knowledge of the education system's regulations and governing documents as well as current experience from municipal adult education. You understand Adult Education's mission and have experience leading, developing, and monitoring pedagogical activities with a focus on quality and results. You are well versed in education laws and regulations and have the ability to translate governing documents and political objectives into operational development. Furthermore, you work strategically and systematically with quality improvement and understand the importance of education for individuals' labor market integration, lifelong learning, and skills supply. We would also appreciate it if you have: Experience in managerial or leadership positions within municipal adult education, upper secondary school, or primary school. Experience leading operations in a politically governed organization. Experience working in or leading SFI operations. Experience in change and development work with a focus on quality, collaboration, and operational development. You are clear in your communication and leadership, while remaining receptive and flexible when the needs and conditions of the operations change. You work in a structured manner, take responsibility for driving issues forward, and have good ability to plan, prioritize, and monitor your work.
