Do you want to work with qualified accounting in one of Sweden's larger municipalities? Södertälje Municipality is now seeking an accounting economist who wants to contribute to stable, transparent, and fair financial reporting – and at the same time be part of developing tomorrow's accounting processes. Your responsibilities As an accounting economist at Södertälje Municipality, you will be part of the finance department and work closely with both colleagues within the finance function and the operations teams. The role is broad and includes both operational and analytical tasks, with a focus on quality in accounting and reporting. You will have your own area of responsibility and participate in the entire accounting process – from ongoing bookkeeping to year-end closing and external reporting. What will you be doing? In this role, you will work with: Ongoing accounting and account reconciliations Monthly, interim, and annual financial statements Quality assurance of accounting in accordance with applicable regulations (including RKR) Statistics Sweden (SCB) reporting and other external reporting Contribution to the preparation of consolidated financial statements Support and advice to operations and departments on financial matters Development and streamlining of procedures, processes, and working methods Requirements: Higher education in accounting or equivalent vocational education Experience with qualified accounting work Experience working with major business systems Strong skills in the Office suite, particularly Excel Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing Meriting factors: Experience with consolidated financial statements and group accounting Experience with Statistics Sweden (SCB) reporting Experience with the Unit4 ERP business system Experience with accounting in the public sector Personal qualities: To succeed in this role, we see that you are: Structured, thorough, and quality-conscious Analytical with a good ability to see connections and the bigger picture Independent in your work and confident in your competence Collaborative and communicative Proactive with an interest in improvement and development work We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
