Accounting Economist

The Finance Department at Stockholm University plays a central role in ensuring accurate and consistent accounting and providing support to the organization on financial matters. We are now seeking an Accounting Economist with several years of experience in qualified accounting work for our accounting section. More information about us can be found at: Finance Department Responsibilities In this role, you will work with accounting matters at the university-wide level and contribute to ensuring that accounting functions effectively and consistently in practice. You will handle both recurring tasks and matters that require judgment and interpretation of regulations. Your responsibilities include: financial closing work (monthly, quarterly, and annually) monitoring and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts and handling of discrepancies assessment and application of accounting principles in complex matters support on accounting matters by providing guidance on how regulations and procedures should be applied in practice dialogue with the organization on accounting matters requiring in-depth analysis participation in annual report work and other external reporting contribution to the development and improvement of procedures and working methods within accounting Qualifications Requirements higher education in economics with a focus on accounting, or other education combined with relevant work experience deemed equivalent experience with qualified accounting work in a government agency with good knowledge of government accounting and financial administrative regulations several years of experience working with accounting, including financial closing work in a central finance function good knowledge of external accounting and experience working with the entire accounting workflow familiarity with reconciliations, accruals, and monitoring good knowledge of Excel and experience with accounting systems good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing Meritorious experience with the accounting system Raindance or equivalent Personal Qualities To succeed in this role, we see that you: work in a structured and thorough manner and can prioritize during periods of high workload have good collaboration skills and enjoy a role with many contact points are service-oriented and have the ability to clearly explain financial relationships have good judgment and can make well-founded assessments in your work take responsibility for your tasks and work independently within given frameworks About the Position The employment is permanent on a full-time basis with a six-month probationary period.
