Job Description
SiS youth home Margretelund consists of eight units, six located in Lidköping and two in Falköping. The target population is youth of upper secondary school age with serious psychosocial issues.
As a psychologist, you are an important part of our healthcare team, which consists of four nurses and three psychologists. The team is led by the youth home's quality manager.
Youth placed at SiS are in care according to the Act on Care of Young People, and care is typically provided in secure settings. Placed youth often come from difficult social circumstances and commonly struggle with substance abuse, criminal behavior, and serious behavioral problems combined with psychiatric issues.
As a psychologist at SiS, you work individually-focused with assessment conversations such as screening, suicide risk assessments, or targeted evaluations. You primarily work with supportive conversations and psychoeducation, though some talk-based treatment may occur.
Assessments are conducted within the framework of SiS student health services or by agreement with the placing social worker. You participate in treatment teams around each youth together with the unit manager, treatment secretary, treatment coordinator, teachers, and nurses, contributing a psychological perspective to this work.
In striving to ensure that placed youth have an uninterrupted chain of care, the psychologist is important for collaboration with other care providers. You are often a first contact regarding mental health concerns experienced by our placed youth and serve as a support function to treatment staff on matters related to the youth's mental well-being.
The psychologist's role at SiS is also consultative and educational, including work with trauma-informed care (TMO) and suicide prevention. The recently established youth home Gudhemsgården in the nearby area collaborates closely with Margretelund. As a psychologist, you have proximity to psychology colleagues at each unit.
Qualifications
Psychology license or degree in psychology (for supervised practice positions).
You are humble and cooperate easily with others. You communicate well both verbally and in writing and are accustomed to taking responsibility for, planning, and setting boundaries for your work. You can shift between different explanatory models for youth difficulties and are well-versed in psychiatric assessment methodology and CBT-based treatment.
Experience working with clients in secure environments and/or in psychiatry is advantageous. Great weight is placed on personal suitability.
