As a project coordinator, you will work with the unit's project activities, with a focus on nature conservation projects. About the job You will work independently as a project coordinator for the unit's project activities, with a focus on nature conservation projects. In addition to working part of your time in the field on projects, you will coordinate, lead, and distribute work within the team of seasonal staff during the field season. Together with your manager, you will be responsible for budgets in the various projects and assist with forecasting work. Your work also includes collaborating with other unit staff to coordinate and organize parts of larger projects, such as procuring services and maintaining contacts with, among others, professional fishermen, landowners, associations, and hydropower companies. Outside the field season, you will work on compiling results, financial follow-up, report writing, data entry, and project reporting to other authorities. You will plan and conduct consultation meetings with landowners, seek additional project funding including budgets, and more. During spring, you will also prepare and plan for the field season for various projects. During the field season, you will serve as the team's coordinator in the field to perform, among other tasks: Inventories Control of terrestrial and aquatic invasive species Management of endangered species such as freshwater pearl mussels Electrofishing and net fishing, as well as individual fish sampling Mowing and clearing of grass, reeds, shrubs, and trees Boatwork and boat operation The position will involve weekly overnight stays outside Gävle during the field season, including in northern Hälsingland and other locations in the region. Inconvenient working hours are part of the position. Other activity-related tasks also occur. About you We are seeking someone with higher education in natural sciences with a focus on biology and nature conservation at an advanced level, or equivalent. You must have experience working with invasive species control, electrofishing, and net fishing. You must have a valid electrofishing certificate and chainsaw card, as well as experience planning and conducting fish sampling, clearing, and invasive species control. You must be able to operate a boat and be comfortable working at sea. You must have strong knowledge of the region's invasive species and control methods. Further, you must have experience working in public administration and be able to work with project applications, evaluation, scientific analysis, report writing, and result follow-up as well as public procurement. You must have excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing; good English skills are desirable. We also appreciate experience in the role of coordinator for groups working with field activities, as well as experience working with GIS, FieldMaps, and Survey 123. You have good ability to plan and organize work efficiently. You must be self-motivated, take responsibility for your tasks, and drive processes in a structured manner within established timeframes. You are energetic and have the ability to work hard and invest time and commitment in your work. You must be flexible and adapt easily to changing circumstances. You work toward goals and focus on results. You are driven by goal and result-oriented thinking in prioritizations, planning, and actions. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You must be physically capable of working in terrain and wading in running water for a large part of the day, as well as carrying field equipment to and from field areas. A category B driver's license is required.
