Description:

About Sunderby Folk High School Sunderby Folk High School offers education and courses ranging from upper secondary school subjects to creative programs with knowledge and people at the center. Our principals are the LO district in Northern Sweden, ABF Norr, and Unga Örnar Norrbotten. Through the foundation, we run various types of projects to strengthen democracy and to provide people in vulnerable positions with tools and support to influence their future. Our project team consists of two permanent project managers and the number of other project workers varies depending on the projects we have underway. About the DC Farming Project: The goal of the DC Farming project is to develop a concept for how work-integrated social enterprises (WISE) can use waste streams, such as excess heat from data centers, to create employment opportunities for people far from the labor market while also contributing to local food production. WISE has the primary goal of creating employment for people who otherwise have difficulty finding work, and the business activities serve as the tool to achieve that goal. We grow vegetables hydroponically in a greenhouse in Boden, which is heated by waste heat. In the greenhouse we also cultivate mushrooms in spent coffee grounds, and in a container outside we raise larvae on waste streams from, for example, grocery stores. The larvae then become animal feed. In parallel, we are developing tools and models to support work integration. The purpose of developing the concept is to enable others to do the same thing in other locations. DC Farming is a collaboration project between Sunderby Folk High School, Coompanion Norrbotten, and Boden Municipality. The project is financed by the Swedish ESF Council and Region Norrbotten. The project has been ongoing for two and a half years and ends 2027-03-31. In the final project period, there will be significant focus on finalizing the concept and helping participants continue the operations as a WISE. Job Description: As a project worker in DC Farming, you work daily with participants in our operations. You work primarily in the greenhouse located in Boden where you mentor, educate, and lead the activities. You work together with a mentor who shares their position between Boden Municipality and the DC Farming project. As a mentor, you create a safe and welcoming environment for the participants who come to the activities. You also participate, together with the project manager and project workers from other partners, in concept development. The position involves working with people far from the labor market who may have complex issues, such as mental health challenges and weak integration in society. Several operations share the greenhouse and participants are there on different terms. It is important that you enjoy helping people develop, collaborate, and solve problems together with others. Because we develop and test new things, it is an advantage if you are curious and have the ability to follow and evaluate the tests that are conducted. Responsibilities: As a project worker in the DC Farming project, you are expected to: Work with and motivate participants in all work areas covered by the project. Collaborate with the project manager and other project partners. Ensure that the project's goals are met. Contribute with documentation and evaluation of methods and results. As part of our project team, you are expected to: Be well versed in the project's goals and collaborate with others in the project to achieve them. Participate in other work that occurs at the folk high school. We Are Looking for Someone Who: Believe in people's capacity for change and want to contribute to creating conditions for an independent and sustainable life. Have experience working with people in socially vulnerable situations. Are passionate about equal rights, equality, and democracy for all people. Have personal maturity, confidence, and the ability to create professional relationships. Feel comfortable meeting with people who are in change and recovery processes and have the ability to meet each individual with respect, clarity, and a non-judgmental approach. Have good collaboration skills. Are initiative-taking, self-driven, and creative. Want to be involved in developing new methods and ways of working. Meritorious if you have: Experience working with people far from the labor market. Knowledge of hydroponic cultivation, greenhouse growing, mushroom cultivation, insect farming, or circular economy. Experience with WISE, cooperative enterprise, or self-employment. Experience with collaboration between organizations with different conditions. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. Other Requirements: B driver's license (manual transmission). Good computer skills are required for the position. Terms: The position is a project employment for a maximum of 7 months, until project end on 2027-03-31. Unscheduled working hours. Full-time or part-time, scope can be discussed. Travel and evening/weekend work may occur. Start date September 1st or by agreement. Individual salary setting applies. We have collective agreements. Application: Due to vacation periods, applications received will be processed after the final application deadline.
