Description:

Do you want to help develop conditions for the dance and circus field in northern Sweden? We are seeking an engaged project manager to lead a three-year development project in which the four northernmost regions work together to build a long-term sustainable model for collaboration around organizer development, producer support, and touring structures within dance and circus. About the Project With support from the four northern regions and the Swedish Arts Council, the project aims to strengthen access to professional dance and circus throughout northern Sweden, with particular focus on smaller towns and sparsely populated areas. Through regional collaboration, we want to create sustainable structures that strengthen organizers' capacity to present dance and circus, and enhance producers' opportunities for touring and reaching smaller venues and stages. The project combines developmental work with competency-building initiatives for organizers and producers. A central part of the work is building collaboration through practical implementation, shared learning, and long-term relationships between stakeholders in the four regions. Responsibilities We are currently seeking someone with strong experience in project management and work within organizing and the dance/circus field. You thrive working both independently and in teams, and you excel at networking and building relationships. You are strategic and organized in your work and have a genuine passion for development processes. To succeed in this role, you need both social and digital competencies. As project manager, you are responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving the project's implementation together with project partners. You have shared budget responsibility and report to the steering group. You will also convene the project's reference group. Otherwise, you work independently with freedom to plan and structure your work in the way that suits you best. Your role includes, among other things: • Leading the project's development and implementation according to set goals. • Building and developing collaboration among the four northernmost regions. • Creating and maintaining networks with organizers, producers, and other relevant stakeholders. • Identifying and engaging organizers for broad geographic reach of the project's initiatives. • Coordinating efforts that strengthen organizers' ability to arrange dance and circus performances. • Contributing to creating conditions for producers to adapt their productions to smaller stages and venues. • Collaborating with the steering group, communications officer, and other project resources. • Responsibility for project monitoring, reporting, and finances. What We Are Looking For You have strong experience in project management, preferably within the cultural sector. You have excellent ability to create and develop collaborations between different stakeholders. You are structured, self-driven, and experienced in driving processes forward. You have knowledge and experience in the performing arts field, dance and/or circus. You thrive working both strategically and operationally. You have excellent communication skills and experience in network building. You hold a driver's license and have the ability to travel within the four northernmost regions. What We Offer A developmental and meaningful assignment where you get to help create strengthened conditions for dance and circus arts in northern Sweden. You will become part of an engaged network of regional stakeholders working together to strengthen cultural life, increase accessibility to professional performing arts, and create sustainable structures for future cultural development. Practical Information The project is driven through collaboration between Dance Consultants in the four northern regions, Riksteatern Norra, Dans i Nord, Norrdans, and Danscentrum Norr. Project owner and employer is Riksteatern Jämtland Härjedalen. We prefer that you are based in one of the four northern regions to enable outreach work; the work can to some extent be done remotely. Office space can be offered in Härnösand/Sundsvall, Piteå, Umeå, or Östersund. Travel within the 4 northern regions will occur. Fixed-term employment: October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2029; the position and employment extend annually. Extent: 80%. A lower percentage (40–80%) may be possible. Please indicate your preferred extent in your application. Working hours: Flexible, primarily daytime, but evenings and weekends occur. Opportunity to adapt and combine with other work. Salary: Fixed monthly salary. Content of Personal Letter: • What about the assignment interests you? • What is your previous experience with project management? • What is your previous experience working in dance and/or circus? • What is your previous experience with organizer development work? • What are your connections to the four northern regions? • Please describe your personal qualities. • Do you hold a driver's license and have access to your own car? • Indicate your preferred extent (40–80%).
