Project Manager for 8+Fjords, Temporary Position

The County Administrative Board is a regional state authority with approximately 1,000 pleasant and competent employees. We have operations in several locations in Västra Götaland but also in other parts of Sweden as we are responsible for IT operations for all county administrative boards. About the job Are you attracted to working with environmental improvement measures in the marine environment and contributing to public benefit? Do you have knowledge of ecosystem-based marine management and experience with implementation work? Are you also skilled at coordinating different parallel working groups and enjoy collaborating with many actors in a dynamic environment? Then perhaps you are our temporary project manager for the 8+Fjords project. The Agency for Marine and Water Management started a project in 2021 with the aim of applying ecosystem-based marine management in practice. The idea is to develop a management model that can be used throughout the country. 8+Fjords has been selected as one of three pilot areas for the project. The other areas are the Stockholm archipelago and Southern Bothnian Sea. 8+Fjords started in 2008 as a result of disappearing fish stocks and deteriorating marine environment. Since then, 8+Fjords in Bohuslän has worked systematically with various measures to restore and improve the water environment in the coastal area from Nordre River to Uddevalla. The municipalities covered by the project are: Stenungsund, Kungälv, Tjörn, Orust and Uddevalla in Bohuslän. In addition, the County Administrative Board, University of Gothenburg, SMHI and SLU participate in the project. Your main responsibilities are to: - Coordinate and personally participate in the County Administrative Board's efforts within the 8+Fjords project's five working groups: o Seals and cormorants o Fishing and fishing supervision o Marine habitats o Cod breeding for stocking o Recreational boats - Organize action forums and other meetings as well as work with communication - Report to the steering group The Fish Function is part of the Unit for Natural Environment at the Nature and Water Department. In the function, we work long-term for sustainable fish stocks and sustainable fishing in both inland waters and the sea. This is done among other things by distributing financial support for fish management and liming activities, managing fish management areas, conducting fishing supervision, safeguarding fishing interests in societal planning, processing applications for permits and exemptions according to fishing legislation, and protecting and preserving endangered aquatic species. In addition, the Fish Function also assists other departments and units within the authority in various projects and in the work of distributing subsidies and EU support within the water sector and fishing industry. The Function also participates in various projects related to water and fish, including the 8+Fjords project with a focus on ecosystem-based marine management (EBHF). For this project, we are now recruiting a project manager on a part-time basis until March 2027. We are always developing our operations and you therefore need to be open to your tasks potentially changing over time. Travel within the country occurs. About you We are looking for someone who is structured and can independently plan and prioritize your tasks efficiently. You are driven by goal- and results-oriented thinking in prioritization, planning and action. You have a positive attitude, are attentive and engaged. You have a very strong ability to create and develop good relationships as your tasks are characterized by internal collaboration and external cooperation. You take your own initiative, start activities and achieve results. You find it easy to adapt to changed circumstances and are open to new perspectives and approaches. You have: - A degree from relevant higher education, for example with a focus on marine ecology, fish biology, wildlife management or equivalent, which the County Administrative Board deems equivalent - Work experience - At least three years of experience in one or more relevant areas such as marine ecology, fish management, wildlife work in marine environment, restoration work in aquatic environment, fishing legislation or equivalent - Project management experience - Good familiarity with digital tools and working methods - Very strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing - Class B driving license We would like to see that you have: - Experience from government work - Knowledge of fish biology - Experience with seal and cormorant-related issues - Knowledge or experience of water restoration measures - Knowledge of environmental law: the Environmental Code and EU legislation - Good experience of relevant fieldwork such as sample fishing, surveys and water sampling or hunting - Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) We believe in equal opportunities for all and one of our main missions is to promote diversity and a personnel composition that reflects the population of the region.
