As a project manager, you will work with bridges that are essential for people to move safely and smoothly. You lead projects in both new construction and maintenance and are also responsible for matters related to ongoing operations. It is a varied role where your technical expertise makes a concrete difference in people's everyday lives and contributes to safe and functioning infrastructure for Västerås residents. Your responsibilities You are responsible for planning, leading, and following up bridge projects throughout the entire process, from early stages and design to implementation, completion, and handover to operations. The projects vary in size and complexity and may include minor maintenance measures, repairs, as well as renovation and new construction. In this role, you are also responsible for the operation of the city's bridges. This means you plan and coordinate preventive, condition-based, and emergency measures. You monitor the condition of the bridges and ensure that necessary measures are carried out with the right quality and at the right time. In this way, you contribute to safe, functional, and long-term sustainable bridges. As a project manager, you bring coherence to assignments and create momentum in collaboration between different parties. You review technical documents and ensure that projects are completed with the right quality, within the decided time frame and budget. In your work, you have close contact with consultants, contractors, construction managers, and other internal and external partners. You are responsible for project finances and work with budgets, forecasts, and financial follow-up. The role involves many contact points and a daily routine characterized by planning, coordination, management, and follow-up. You also serve as a knowledge resource for colleagues and contribute to the department's joint development. Your competence We are looking for someone with experience in investment projects, design, or project management with a focus on bridges or other experience that the employer considers relevant. You have good technical understanding and can assess and review drawings, calculations, and other technical documents. Experience in construction and dimensioning is a plus. You have relevant academic or post-secondary education. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent competence through work experience in the field. You have knowledge of regulations and requirements applicable to bridges, such as TRVinfra, Anläggnings AMA, and contract law. It is a plus if you have experience with financial follow-up and budget responsibility as well as working in the BaTMan management system. You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as basic IT skills and experience using digital systems to support your work. A category B driver's license is required for this position. To succeed in this role, you are confident and stable as a person and have good self-awareness. You take responsibility for your work, drive processes forward, and maintain focus even when projects are complex or circumstances change. You work in a structured manner, make well-founded assessments and prioritizations, and have the ability to balance different perspectives in your decision-making. You are goal- and results-oriented and work toward established goals with a focus on quality, time, and economy. Since the role involves collaboration with many different parties, you need to be responsive, clear, and trust-building in your communication. You enjoy sharing your knowledge, contribute specialist expertise, and see collaboration as a prerequisite for achieving good results. You will become part of the Building Department within the Streets and Parks Unit and work close to about ten project managers with specialist expertise in various areas. The Streets and Parks Unit is responsible for the city's streets and green spaces. We work with strategic planning, construction, as well as operation and maintenance of, among other things, streets, bridges, parks, and green spaces. We work closely with other departments within Västerås city and participate in the development and exploitation of areas such as Sätra, Finnslätten, Kopparlunden, and Mälarporten.
