Project Engineer in Railway and Infrastructure – Western Sweden
Assignment length: until November 15, 2027, with possibility of 6-month extension. Scope: Full-time Start: September 28, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Location: Western Sweden, with placement in the Gothenburg area or Skaraborg. About the assignment We are seeking an experienced project engineer for a longer consulting assignment within major railway and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project managers, specialists, and other project team members, functioning as operational project management support. The role is broad and suits someone who is comfortable independently managing finances, forecasts, schedules, risks, documentation, and ongoing project administration. You need to be comfortable working on multiple parallel projects and driving your areas of responsibility forward without constant direction. Responsibilities Establish, update, and monitor project schedules. Work with financial follow-up, forecasts, invoice management, and financial documentation. Coordinate and monitor project risk management work. Prepare and update project governance documentation. Support project management with requirements, change, and issue management. Manage project information and documentation in digital project and document management systems. Prepare materials for procurement, call-offs, and supplier dialogues. Prepare reports, presentations, and compilations. Record meeting minutes and memoranda at project meetings. Coordinate contacts between project management, specialists, and external stakeholders. Requirements for the role You must meet the following: University or college degree in economics, engineering, infrastructure, or related relevant field. Minimum 3 years of experience within the past 6 years from road or railway projects in roles such as project engineer, contract engineer, engineer, site manager, project coordinator, project economist, or clearly comparable role. The above experience must be verified through assignments where you worked at least 80% and where each project had a production budget of at least 50 MSEK. Documented experience with forecasting, cost tracking, and invoice management. Experience in risk management. Good experience with project planning and practical use of MS Project. Experience with administrative project, finance, and document management systems in larger project organizations. Very good proficiency with Microsoft Office. Good Swedish speaking and very good Swedish writing. Very good ability to write meeting minutes and memoranda in Swedish. Class B driver's license. Possibility to work on-site approximately four days per week in the Gothenburg area or Skaraborg. Possibility to work full-time during the assignment period. Training in AB, ABT, and ABK as well as current training for safe presence in railway environments must be in place at assignment start. If you lack any of these trainings today, it may still be relevant, provided the training can be completed before start. Merits It is particularly meritorious if you have: Minimum 3 years of experience at least 80% in railway projects with broad project engineer tasks within finance, schedule, risk, coordination, and administration. Minimum 2 years of experience with financial tracking and forecasting in infrastructure projects. Minimum 2 years of experience with forecasting work in established finance and project management systems within major Swedish infrastructure operations. Previous experience from large and complex project organizations in railway. Workplace and arrangement The assignment is carried out primarily on-site in Western Sweden with placement in the Gothenburg area or Skaraborg. Approximately four days per week is expected to be on-site and one day can normally be done remotely. Business travel may occur. Work is normally during daytime hours. In the role, you need to be able to follow special procedures for information security, confidentiality, and work in a railway environment.
