Job Responsibilities At the Department of Physiology, Nutrition, and Biomechanics, we are seeking a project assistant for a research project investigating the effects of androgen deprivation therapy and physical exercise in men with prostate cancer. The project involves collection and analysis of biological material, including blood, muscle, and adipose tissue. As a project assistant, you will work practically with sample collection, sample handling, and laboratory analyses, as well as contribute to processing and compilation of research data. Your responsibilities will include: - Assisting with biopsy and blood sampling, as well as preparing and handling collected biological material - Performing biochemical analyses of blood and tissue samples - Preparing and conducting immunohistochemical analyses of muscle and adipose tissue - Performing mitochondrial function analyses - Preparing and quality-assuring samples for external analyses - Processing, compiling, and documenting collected data and analysis results Qualification Requirements To be eligible for employment, you must have: - A master's degree in biomedicine, translational physiology and pharmacology, or equivalent relevant field - Experience with clinical laboratory work and handling of human tissue and blood Selection Criteria The following qualifications will receive particular weight in the selection: - Very high weight will be placed on experience with biochemical and molecular biological laboratory methods, particularly ELISA, immunohistochemistry, functional mitochondrial analyses, RNA and protein extraction, and analysis of gene and protein expression, such as RT-qPCR and Western blotting - High weight will be placed on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who is independent, engaged, thorough, and analytical, with good collaboration and communication skills - High weight will be placed on strong ability to express yourself in English, both orally and in writing - Weight will be placed on experience with data processing and statistical analysis using relevant software - Previous experience working on human biological or clinical research projects is meritorious Duration / Working Hours The employment is a fixed-term position for 4 months with the possibility of extension.
