For more information about this position https://liu.se/jobba-pa-liu/lediga-jobb/29090 Your Responsibilities Disaster medicine is a relatively young scientific discipline where Linköping University, together with Region Östergötland, has been a strong national and international driving force. Among other achievements, Sweden's first professorship in Disaster Medicine was established at Linköping University. Disaster medicine is a clinical subject traditionally rooted in trauma surgery. From its inception, the Disaster Medicine Center has applied a progressive approach to disaster medicine with a clearly interdisciplinary and interprofessional approach. The disaster medicine field is currently particularly relevant in relation to strengthening healthcare preparedness in total defense, while disaster medicine issues recur across multiple societal challenges such as climate change, cyberattacks, terrorism, and pandemics. As a professor, you are active within the research community, participate in departmental activities such as seminars and workshops, engage in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding. The center also conducts various types of professional education in which you are expected to participate. You lead scientific projects and the center's academic work and contribute to external funding of center activities. As a Professor in Disaster Medicine, you teach at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels in Swedish and English, and supervise students in the various programs of the Faculty of Medicine. The work includes administrative tasks such as course design, course responsibility, and examination. The Faculty of Medicine applies student-active teaching methods. You actively contribute to the university's and center's development work. You contribute to collaboration, which is an integral part of the university's research and education mission. We welcome your participation in and interest in leadership roles within and as a representative of LiU and Region Östergötland. In your work, you represent the discipline in national and international forums and in the media. Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally within your field and societal developments relevant to your work. We expect you to maintain close and continuous interaction with both Trauma Center US and other disaster medicine-relevant operations, and to participate in relevant strategic initiatives at Linköping University and Region Östergötland. Your clinical assignment within Region Östergötland includes clinical work within your specialty, development work, and work within civil preparedness. Your Workplace You will divide your time between Linköping University and Region Östergötland. Research, teaching, and certain development work take place based on the Disaster Medicine Center's operations. The Disaster Medicine Center is an independent operational unit within Region Östergötland with the mission to maintain "Right preparedness – in everyday life, crisis, and war" for the region. Your clinical service takes place at and together with clinically relevant departments within Region Östergötland for your specialty.
