The department conducts education and research in industrial economics, industrial design, and mechanical engineering. A common starting point for the activities is to develop knowledge about industrial systems, organizations, processes, flows, and products with consideration for social, economic, and ecological sustainability. The department has strong connections to the surrounding society, and students, teachers, and researchers work in close collaboration with industry and public authorities. Responsibilities As a Professor in Industrial Economics, you will devote your time to both teaching and research, as well as related collaboration. Teaching includes planning, conducting, evaluating, and developing courses at basic and advanced levels. In industrial economics, we provide education at the level of engineering, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs within the subject. Teaching at the basic level takes place in Swedish. Work is also underway to develop a civil engineering program with a planned start in fall 2027. Research includes initiating, conducting, and reporting research, supervising doctoral students, and seeking research funding. An important part of the employment is to contribute to increasing external research funding and enhancing collaboration with the surrounding society. Your workplace is at University of Gävle, where most of your working time will be based. Qualifications The eligibility requirement for employment is a doctoral degree in Industrial Economics or another subject that the employer deems equivalent, with subject specialization in industrial organization, quality management, innovation management, or logistics. To be eligible for employment as a professor, you must also have demonstrated pedagogical skill. Furthermore, you should have: Had high-quality scientific production that in quantitative terms substantially exceeds the requirements for associate professor status. Published research results in problem areas beyond the area that qualified for the doctoral degree, or conducted significant broadening with respect to method or theory within the area that qualified for the doctoral degree. Been the principal applicant for research funding applications and successfully obtained research funding from external national and/or international funding bodies in competitive processes. Been the main supervisor for at least one doctoral student from start to completion. Demonstrated academic leadership in research activities and educational activities. Worked the equivalent of at least 2 years full-time with teaching assignments and acquired extensive experience in educational activities including planning, implementation (teaching and examination), evaluation, and development of education. Completed higher education pedagogy training equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time study or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English. Good ability to collaborate within relevant national or international research networks as well as with the surrounding society. Good ability to cooperate and build good relationships internally and externally. The position involves considerable freedom in structuring your work, so the applicant needs to demonstrate good initiative and independence. The work also places high demands on your ability to structure and prioritize your tasks well and have good administrative ability. As a professor with us, you are expected to take overall responsibility for our future development. We are looking for someone who is willing and able to take on formal management assignments within the university. Previous leadership experience is therefore a merit. In the appointment process, consideration will also be given to how the applicant can strengthen and complement the department's research and teaching within the subject area. The assessment of pedagogical skill shall be given equal care as the assessment of scientific skill.
