The Department of Occupational Therapy is a dynamic and creative educational and research environment at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Science and Society, located on Campus Flemingsberg in southern Stockholm. We are seeking a professor with strong credentials in occupational therapy, work science and pedagogy, who with commitment can contribute to and further develop occupational therapy, activity science and education at Karolinska Institute. The department's vision is to contribute to improving people's health through research, education and interprofessional collaboration with a scientific foundation in occupational therapy and activity science. Education is conducted at basic level (Occupational Therapy Programme), advanced level (Master's in Occupational Therapy), as well as free-standing and elective courses and at doctoral level. The department has approximately 50 employees, approximately 10 registered doctoral students and comprises three research groups with interdisciplinary research in occupational therapy. Subject Description Occupational therapy is a main subject within one of Karolinska Institute's educational programmes at basic level, the Occupational Therapy Programme, and in courses at advanced level in the field. The scientific discipline of occupational therapy is based on theory and practice concerning human activities that create engagement and change at both individual and group and system levels. The subject develops knowledge of human activities and how these can be used in everyday activities and occupational therapy. Through education and research in occupational therapy and activity science, health equity and social change can be driven forward. Your Role We are looking for someone who has internationally leading research activities in occupational therapy and activity science, as well as experience in both leading educational activities and conducting pedagogical development work. At the Department of Occupational Therapy there is a stimulating and creative work environment and together with engaged colleagues you as a professor conduct research and education of high quality. As a professor you will lead a research group that is expected to conduct internationally leading research in occupational therapy and activity science. Your duties include teaching and examination in courses of the Occupational Therapy Programme within the main area of occupational therapy. The role includes responsibility for anchoring education in research and representing the main area, as well as further developing collaboration with clinical activities. Teaching and examination at advanced level may also be included in your duties, as well as teaching in doctoral courses. You will be leading in educational activities and pedagogical development work. Eligibility Requirements Eligible to be employed as a professor with a focus on education and research is a person who has demonstrated excellent pedagogical skill and very good scientific skill. Additional Eligibility Requirements You must have completed occupational therapy education, be a licensed occupational therapist or have equivalent education in occupational therapy and activity science. Since the employment includes duties as an examiner, you must have knowledge and proficiency in Swedish, Norwegian or Danish language (C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR). The upcoming interview may therefore take place wholly or partly in Swedish. Furthermore, you must have completed higher education pedagogy education comprising 10 weeks according to SUHF's recommendations for qualifying higher education pedagogy education. If such education is lacking at the time of employment, you should undertake such education within the framework of the employment during the first two years of employment. Assessment Criteria The employment has a focus on education and research. For this position, weighting of qualifications will be done as follows: scientific skill (3), pedagogical skill (3), leadership and collaboration skill (2).
