Process Manager for Waste Collection (Temporary Position)

Description of the Operation The Waste Department is responsible for the collection and treatment of waste under municipal responsibility. The department is responsible for service development, behavioral initiatives to prevent waste, developing waste plans and regulations, managing the city's closed landfills, and operating the Reuse Center. The Procurement and Services Unit is responsible for procurement, assignment, and monitoring of collection and treatment contractors for food and residual waste, bulky waste, hazardous waste, packaging, return paper, and sludge. The unit's mission involves procuring and directly assigning tasks to contractors based on the most cost-effective operational method. Waste treatment should be the most environmentally sound according to the waste hierarchy, and the unit's mission is to steer waste flows to the correct treatment method through services and collection systems. More waste should be prevented, reused, and recycled, and the share of waste for incineration should decrease. The unit's mission to develop services should contribute to increased reuse, recycling, and sorting. The starting point is services that Gothenburg residents request and that contribute to achieving environmental policy goals. Job Responsibilities As a process manager in the Procurement and Services Unit, you will monitor agreements regarding waste collection. Waste collection is performed by external parties on behalf of Kretslopp och vatten (Circular Economy and Water). The tasks are varied and involve both time spent on legislation and contract monitoring, while also working operationally with practical issues within the city's waste collection. In this particular role, you are responsible for monitoring the collection of packaging and newspapers from recycling stations. You are also responsible for monitoring cleaning service agreements. Contract monitoring includes, among other things, coordinating with contractors to ensure that assigned tasks are performed. In close collaboration with other process managers and case officers in the department, you work toward ensuring that Gothenburg has sustainable waste management. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is responsible, analytical, and collaboration-oriented. You communicate clearly and correctly in writing, can analyze information and see connections, and take responsibility for completing your tasks thoroughly and efficiently. You collaborate well with others and contribute to a respectful work climate and the organization's common goals.
