The Press Chief Role
At Region Jönköpings län, we base our work on what is best for everyone living and working in Jönköpings län. We are now seeking a Press Chief who wants to help develop and shape Region Jönköpings län's press and media work in a newly established position.
As Press Chief, you have overall functional responsibility for Region Jönköpings län's press and media work. You lead the development of working methods and collaboration, and create conditions for coordinated, professional, and trust-building press work. You are the team leader for the press team, which consists of three employees.
You analyze the media landscape and current societal issues, contribute to communication planning for major initiatives, changes, and events, and provide qualified support to the Communications Director, regional management, and departments on media and communication matters. The role includes handling media inquiries, working with proactive media relations, and contributing to communication during crises and special events. As team leader, you are responsible for creating structure, coordination, and good conditions for your team's work and development.
This is a permanent full-time position with a start date to be agreed upon.
Your Future Workplace
The Communications Department is part of the Regional Management Office and provides communication support to the entire organization. We work both strategically and operatively on communication within healthcare, regional development, and matters concerning Region Jönköpings län as an organization and workplace.
The department consists of employees with various specialties and focuses. Together, we support departments and management in achieving prioritized goals. We also develop and manage our channels, working methods, and communication processes to create a sustainable and efficient communication system.

In this role, you report to the Communications Department Head and work closely with the Communications Director, Communications Managers, regional management, and colleagues throughout the communication function. You also have many external contact points with media, partner organizations, and national networks.
Your Profile
We are looking for you with higher education in media and communication science, journalism, or other education or experience that we consider equivalent. You have several years of experience with strategic communication work in a larger organization and qualified press and media work on complex or sensitive issues.
For this role, you also need experience in team leadership, coordination, or similar work within communication or press, as well as experience with crisis communication. We value good understanding of public sector operations and politically governed organizations, good knowledge of how media works and media logic, as well as understanding of the laws and regulations governing public sector operations.
As a person, you are confident, stable, and have good judgment. You build good relationships and collaborate well with others, while also having the ability to stand by professional assessments even when different perspectives or interests need to be weighed against each other. You are receptive and find it easy to understand different perspectives, synthesize complex information, and make well-grounded assessments.
You thrive in a role where you alternate between strategic development work and issues requiring quick decisions and immediate handling. As a leader, you create engagement, provide support, and challenge others to develop and reach common goals.
We place great emphasis on personal qualities. In this role, a driver's license is a requirement.
