The worker in this position: A social worker at the Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children (OSPOD) in the agenda of substitute family care ensures the protection of rights and interests of a child who cannot grow up in their own family, and participates in finding suitable substitute family environments. They assess the situation of the child and their family, cooperate with courts, schools, healthcare facilities and other institutions; they prepare documentation for court decisions regarding placing a child in foster care, foster parenthood or adoption. The social worker also accompanies and supports foster families, monitors the child's development and ensures the fulfillment of their needs and rights. The social worker also maintains records of children and applicants for substitute family care and participates in arranging foster care and adoption.
