Main Responsibilities The primary duties of a postdoctoral researcher are to conduct research. These may also include teaching, up to 20% of work time. The focus is on developing and characterizing thin film materials of Mg-based ceramic materials (Mg2Si, Mg2Sn, Mg3Bi2) fabricated with PVD, characterizing the materials, with room for the postdoctoral researcher's own project ideas within the broader framework of PVD research activities. Responsibilities may also include internal collaborations, including with thesis students and doctoral candidates, and collaboration with external partners. Qualifications Required: Doctorate degree, or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctorate, in materials science, chemistry, or similar. The degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. Preferably, the degree should have been completed no more than three years ago. In calculating the three-year period, the deadline for application is the starting point. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been completed earlier. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust within labor organizations, etc. Evaluation of applications will primarily be based on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific competence. Greater weight is placed on the quality of each individual scientific work than on the number of publications. Consideration is also given to good collaboration skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant's experience and competence complement and strengthen ongoing research at the Department and how they can contribute to its future development. Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written, are required. Desirable/Meritorious Qualifications Experience in multicomponent materials/high-entropy alloys is meritorious.
