Responsibilities The Environmental Biotechnology Cluster at the Department of Industrial Biotechnology is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to conduct research in the field of resource recovery. The applicant will participate in a number of EU and nationally funded projects, particularly in the co-fermentation of food waste and bioplastics for bioproduction of value-added products such as volatile fatty acids and biogas. The work encompasses the bioproduction process, analysis of microbial ecology as well as separation and purification of the bioproducts. The work involves collaboration with other academic and industrial partners. The candidate is expected to write scientific articles, technical reports and also present results orally to the scientific community and the public. The work may also include teaching and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. Qualifications Requirements Completed doctoral degree or foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree in environmental biotechnology, environmental engineering, biotechnology or another closely related field. This qualification requirement must be met no later than when the employment decision is made. Experience from experimental research in design, operation and optimization of anaerobic bioreactors. Experience from experimental research in wastewater treatment and/or other waste streams Experience from experimental research in bioplastics analysis Experience from experimental research in tools for microbial ecology. The candidate must have good communication skills and master English well both in writing and speech, as this is required in daily work. The candidate must have strong scientific writing ability, demonstrated through publications in international peer-reviewed journals. The candidate must be highly motivated and have the ability to work independently as well as perform critical analyses. The candidate must have good collaboration skills.
