Responsibilities Quantitative analysis of lipid nanoparticles (LNP) using Cryo EM is challenging due to heterogeneous samples, lack of training data, and sample variability. In this project, we aim to develop AI/ML workflows for improved quantitative analysis of LNP. Your responsibilities will include optimizing data collection parameters for automated analysis pipelines; developing, optimizing, and implementing AI/ML workflows; and validating analyses using physicochemical methods. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with experimental LNP doctoral and postdoctoral projects in the Barriga Lab and with M. Carroni at the Cryo EM facility at SciLifeLab. Other responsibilities may include teaching, mentoring, and contributing to collaborative projects/grant applications. Barriga Lab is an interdisciplinary group combining biology, physics, and chemistry to advance our understanding of biological processes with a specific focus on structure-function relationships in lipid systems for drug delivery (primarily lipid nanoparticles). The group has extensive expertise in large-scale research infrastructure for studying lipid systems and connecting these to biological analyses. https://barrigalab.com/ The group is part of the Department of Nanobiotechnology within the Department of Protein Science and is located at SciLifeLab in Solna. Qualifications Requirements Completed doctoral degree or foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made. Expertise in large-scale data analysis Experience working with Cryo EM Experience mentoring/co-mentoring master's/doctoral students Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork Evidence of ability to work independently Merits At the application deadline, no more than three years since obtaining a doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. Experience working with lipid nanoparticles Experience working with scattering (small angle) Ability to communicate (written, oral) in English, as required in daily work Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues (with particular emphasis on gender equality).
