Permanent

Description:

Responsibilities The next major breakthrough in battery development is expected to be lithium solid-state batteries (SSB). This concept makes it possible to replace the highly flammable organic electrolyte in lithium-ion batteries with a safer and more compact solid electrolyte. As part of the Swedish national battery initiative COMPEL, which aims to support competence and excellence in battery research and education for the transport sector, KTH is launching a coordinated initiative on composite-SSB with seven postdoctoral positions from multiple disciplines, focusing on different aspects along the battery value chain, from synthesis and cell manufacturing to characterization, modeling, and scaled production. The two-year postdoctoral project: Scalable production of ceramic solid electrolytes for solid-state batteries will be conducted in collaboration between the Department of Chemical Technology and Resource Recovery at the Institute of Chemical Engineering. The project will focus on developing scalable solvent-based processes for the production of sulfide and halide electrolytes. Special emphasis will be placed on obtaining particles with controlled size distribution and morphology that enable good and reproducible electrolyte performance. In parallel, industrial aspects such as solvent recovery, solid-liquid separation, drying, and process intensification will be addressed. The goal is to generate fundamental understanding and scalable process concepts that support industrial manufacturing of future electrolytes for solid-state batteries. Qualifications Requirements Completed doctoral degree or foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field. This qualification requirement must be met by the time the employment decision is made. Good knowledge of written and spoken English, as required in daily work. Good laboratory and instrument skills. Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with particular focus on gender equality. Merits At the closing date of the application period, no more than three years since the doctoral degree or foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree was completed. Experience with solid-state batteries and materials synthesis. Demonstrate an innovative mindset, creativity, and ability to work independently. Good collaboration skills and ability and interest in working in a team. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. Become Part of KTH KTH shapes the future through education, research, and innovation. As a leading international technical university, we play an active role in driving and contributing to the transition toward a sustainable society. Here you have the opportunity to grow and develop in a creative and dynamic workplace with good working conditions and benefits. Equality, diversity, and equal opportunities are a quality issue and a natural part of KTH's values as a university and state authority. Application You apply through KTH's recruitment system. As an applicant, you have the main responsibility for ensuring that your application is complete when submitted. The application must include: CV including relevant professional experience and knowledge. Copy of degree certificate and grades from previous university studies. Translations into English or Swedish if the original documents are not issued in a Western European language. Brief account of why you want to conduct research, your academic interests, and how they relate to your previous studies and future goals. Maximum 1 page. Contacts for reference persons or recommendation letters The application must be received by KTH no later than midnight CET/CEST (Central European Time/Central European Summer Time) on the closing date. About the Employment The employment is permanent, but for a maximum of two years. A postdoctoral position is a time-limited qualifying employment with a primary focus on research intended as a first career step after completing a doctoral degree. Other For information on the processing of personal data in connection with recruitment. An employment at KTH may be placed in a security classification. If this applies to this particular position, a security clearance of the applicant will be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585) after consent.
