The position is located at the Air and Space Department at the Department of War Science in Stockholm.
The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a sub-project on space power theories and warfare in the space domain, funded by the Swedish Armed Forces, with a focus on developing understanding, ideas, and concepts related to the development of space power theories. The research is part of building a stronger research environment around understanding space as an operational domain from a Swedish perspective and is conducted in close collaboration with sub-projects in the field of defense systems and with the Swedish Armed Forces.
Duties
The postdoctoral researcher is expected to contribute to the field by planning and conducting research activities and disseminating results at conferences and in scientific publications in collaboration with other researchers in the field. The research project will include in-depth interviews, which sometimes need to be conducted in Swedish. Research will comprise 80% of working time. There is an opportunity to work with teaching and supervision up to 20%.

In the first instance, this means a social science discipline, but other applicants are also welcome given a relevant research profile.
The degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. If you have not yet defended your dissertation, please indicate your planned defense date in your application.
The applicant must have completed their degree no more than three years before the application deadline. When calculating the three-year period, the starting point is the last application day. Applicants must not have previously been employed as a postdoctoral researcher for more than one year in the same or related subject area at the same employer.
The applicant must have at least a basic understanding of Swedish in speech and writing. If the hired person does not speak Swedish at the time of employment, they are expected to acquire the necessary language skills within the two years of employment.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. To thrive and fit in the role, you should be motivated, organized, and communicative, with a good ability to take initiative and begin new tasks. We expect you to actively participate in the department's research activities and enjoy collaborating with others.
